Default Horrible Canadian exchange rate

Well it's not THAT bad, but bad enough to start a thread about it. I'm currently preparing for a trip to Japan in three weeks, and I just realized that my purchasing power is over 30% less than it was two years ago when I went. That means this trip is likely to cost me another $2000 just to keep up with the crappy Forex rate.

I'm not going to spend any less because of it (I have a great steady income) but it's just frackin' annoying when you're trying to purchase rail and air passes that are advertised at one price but end up costing 30% more.

Anybody else frustrated with this, or have had to alter / cancel their travel plans because of it?

You can thank the drop in oil/commodity prices for that.

And this is why I'm selling all my extra stuff on ebay and making some extra dough off of it

How's the American exchange? I have some USD that I need to trade back in, and have been lazy... should I hold them for a bit? It's not a lot of money, it's about 500.

Well $500 USD works out to about $630 CAD according to xe.com...

I'm trying to figure that out right now. The majority of money is in USD, but I'm thinking about switching back because of the large amount of the Obama stimulus package that should be coming soon.
