foreign coin currency exchange

Anyone know if there is anywhere in Calgary that will exchange US coins into US bills. I haven't been to a bank recently but I know before the bank I went to treated US coins as Canadian. I guess it isn't as big of a deal now but back when we had the 70-80 cent dollar it was.

Any ideas about the best way to get it done. So far I've toyed with the idea of crossing the border into Montana and using one of the change machines but they have a 8% fee. The other option I thought of is going across the border to one of the casino and cashing in there, I just don't think they would take to kindly of cashing $300 in coins and not playing anything.

Something local would be the cats meow. And for the record I don't even want to think what a hooker that excepts quarters would look like. I also don't think any drug dealer would except 30 lbs of US coins to buy some blow so sadly hookers and blow are out.

I should probably also mention that I didn't break into any vending machines. Just have a bad habit of saving all american coins over the last 5 years. You really would be surprised how many are floating around in Calgary.

If you accumulated them all by saving what has ended up in your coffee change here in Canada, why not just spend them all the same way? I understand that having $300 would be cool, but even cooler would be to constantly fill your ashtray with yankee coins and spend it like free money. If you think about it, every drive thru you hit for the next year would be 20% off.
