Flames-Canucks Deal

A real easy trade to make. The Flames have sent Justin Williams for Chris Kunitz. Both players rated the same, make almost the same amount, and are basically the same age. For some reason Kunitz is a guy I really like in the NHL. Thanks to Sandra for the trade.

Not a whole lot to say. In the NHL, I do like Kunitz a lot more and I'm not sure if Williams will rebound from his injury issues. However, both players *should* be better in the CPHL....Perhaps this change of scenery will help? This will actually be Williams' second stint with the Canucks, who are basically done this season after the chemistry fell apart and key players like Biron and Campbell went down with major injuries. However, Kunitz is a pending UFA and Williams is a pending RFA, so we'll see what happens there too. Always great to deal with a GM like you, Mike.

Obviously a pretty even trade. Kunitz is a bit better in the NHL, but in the CPHL Williams is an RFA where Kunitz is a UFA. I'd rather have the better contract for next year personally, so I like it a bit better for the Canucks.
