Flames-Bolts deal

The Flames are in full rebuild mode and today, after about a weeks worth of negotiations the Flames made a big trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Headed to the Bolts are Todd Bertuzzi, Dan Hinote, and a boat load of Cash. In return the Flames get Clarke MacArthur, Dan Paille, and prospect Jimmy Hayes.

I broke the deal like this:
Bert for both MacArthur and Paille. MacArthur and Paille are both real good young players who I like with the Sabres, MacArthur is close to a top 6 forward and Paille is a definate top 9 forward who could be a top 6 forward.

Hinote for Hayes. Hinote is imo overrated in the sim for what he is in the NHL. I was hoping for someone closer to the NHL but the way my rosters are right now, I really needed to settle for an unsigned ECHLer. Hayes in ranked 6th on the HF's Toronto prospect list and is 4th on the THN Toronto list. He is expected to be a power forward once he fully develops. HF has him listed as 6'4, 210 lbs and he is only 18.

Thanks to Drew for the negotiations. I really tried to grab a better prospect but I am happy with this deal and feel this is the type of deal that the Flames need to make.

I think the Flames did a decent job here. Two NHLers plus another prospect for UFA to be Bertuzzi and Hinote isn't bad.

Good move for both teams. Bertuzzi and Hinote will help out the Lightning, and Macarthur is showing he can be a Top 6. Paille I think will be a 3rd liner guy not much more. Either way though, I think this is a good move for the Flames, they needed to do some rebuilding.

Good to see teams starting to make some moves.
