Default Authentic Flames Jersey

I am speaking strictly about the Authentic jerseys sold in stores. The same ones the players wear...

Are the authentic ones a shade darker than the other jerseys?

A friend of mine just got a jersey he claims is authentic.

It is made in canada.
It says Authentic on the tags
Has the fight strap and all

But when I compared his with a replica at the store, his is a tad darker....

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, was there a difference in the shade of red between last years jerseys and this years?

i may be totally wrong, but....

there are not-so-authentics out there that have the "authentic look" these will have a fight strap. this use to be the way to determine authentic from replica, that and jersey size (48, 52, 56 vs. S, M, L)

an easy way to tell is to look at the crest. an AUTHENTIC one (Flames) will have three layers of tackle twill sewn layer on layer with yellow sewn directly onto jersey.

the not-so-authentic will have embroidery on the crest. the white border will be embroidered, making the white seem thinner than the yellow. on the authentic, the yellow is much thinner than the white border. and the replica crest will seem "shiney" compared to the authentic crest.

Also, i believe that the "pro-replica" will have slits up the sides, authentic does not.

price is always a give away. Pro is about $250-$300 (without customizing), replica is about $100-$150 (without customizing). Authentic customizing is about $50-$80

Hope that helps.

There is completely different material used on the authentics than the replicas. The authentics have at least 3 noticelably different fabrics on different areas of the jersey, and although the materials are colormatched pretty well, it wouldn't be surpinsing if they had a bit of a different shade or even just sheen, then the single material of the replicas.

If its store bought, as long as its made in Canada, has stiching on cresting, embroidered flag patches, and numbered sizing, and not bought in an Indonesian store, its an authentic.

Just compared jerseys- my "still new" 05-06 Pro RBK jersey is barely a little darker than my 03-04 Koho replica.

But it took my g/f and her woman's sense of colour to make that determination.

The above posters are correct and one thing that I would like to add is the water-wicking properties of a <recent> authentic. ...Go ahead, pour some beer* on it!

*By 'beer' I mean only if it is not a Flames jersey.

"pro-replica" or "semi-pro"

RBK 7185 Premier NHL Replica Jersey

note the embroidery on the white border of "C", wider yellow. slit up the side. Yes, there is a fight strap, but this is not "authentic"

pro jersey:

RBK 7187 Edge Authentic NHL Jersey

note white is wider than the yellow border. no slit up the sides. of course, this will have a fight strap.
