New HDTV problem
Hey guys,
I picked up a new 50 inch plasma HDTV from futureshop tonight, brought it home, set it up, and turned it on.
It worked great for about 5 minutes until suddenly the color changed, showing only red and blue. I think the green is gone.
What happened? Do I need to take it back or is this problem easy to fix?
ARGH! I had to get a friend to come and help me bring it home, carry it up the stairs and screw it into the stand.......
Any help is much appreciated.

Check your cables first.

Agreed.
Try other cables as well as other sources.

^^ Yes, sounds like if connected thru component cables the green might be loose or faulty.
If component, are they as thick as a Shaw type coax cable? Thinner and they will give odd issues like you describe.

Yup. Simply seems like one of the component cables is loose.

Did you try going just direct cable in, if you still are missing a color you'll know it's a bum plasma. If it's ok it's then it's either your HD reciever or a cable for sure.

Direct coax in. Could it be caused by interference from other electrical stuff around it? I have my wii, xbox, shaw cable modem, digital cable box, router all right beside it?

By-pass the cable box and see what happens!

Some models will have a colour space setting that you can change on the tv or your cable box/satellite might have it as well.
RGB vs YUV or YCbCr This will change where the red, green and blue line up, this could explain your blue is red problem.

Actually i turned it on and started playing xbox 360 with the buddy who helped me lug it up the stairs...it looked amazing and then suddenly a switch and the game looked almost entirely red. Thought maybe it was the xbox so i plugged in the cable box, switched to it and same thing.

The screen looks like one of those effects from photoshop. I tried the reset button on the menu. No change.

Firstly, its HDMI. Secondly, HDMI is a digital signal, so 1s and 0s only. A bad cable isn't going to cause that sort of problem. If you have a really bad HDMI cable you will lose certain blocks of audio or video as the checksum on the data will fail and cut certain bytes.
