anyone playing the stress test weekend? i dropped AoC for this as that game is almost dead, and i see some great things about WAR, especially the RvR setup. i don't like the combat as much as AoC, but it has better environments and everything seems more fleshed out. the public quests are also a very neat idea, though they could use some fine tuning

overall i'm quite impressed, from what i've seen thus far the launch should go a lot smoother than AoC's did

So AoC is finally dying? I had high hopes when I bought that game, boy did it dissapoint me.

On an unrelated note, the lich king beta is a lot of fun, death knights are ridiculous fun. The quests and starting zone for DK's is easily the best done by blizz.

As for warhammer, I'll definately give it a go, hope its much better than AoC!

I am playing the beta this weekend. It seems like a ton of fun, it will require quite a bit of tweaking for it to be a WoW killer for me.

Add me to the list of those who no longer play AoC... too bad, the game looks so good, but it has no substance.

I don't think I'm going to try WAR, at least not unless it gets amazing reviews like WoW did.

I also have a WOTLK beta key and been having a blast with the Death Knight toon. The starting area is very polished. I loved the quest "Grand Theft Palomino"... simple and fun.

AoC had a huge problem. It was essentially the exact same as WoW with more bugs, less balance and animated tits.

I have 4 70s in WoW. I have spent a lot of time playing it. There was no incentive to switch because it was almost the exact same game. Especially when I am so well set up in WoW.

Edit- I also have very low expectations for Warhammer because it is Warhammer. Games Workshop has done one good thing in the past ten years: Dawn of War. If it can be as fun as that, then WoW may be in trouble.

tonight was my first experience with the massive RvR stuff, capturing battlefield objectives. this is where WAR really shines, such a blast to play with so many people fighting over a few small chunks of land. i'm gonna have a hard time going back to the PvE stuff after this, except for the first few levels you can spend your entire playtime in PvP and level faster than soloing quests. and the renown rewards are great

comparing WoW and WAR for PvP, WAR wins hands down

The battlegrounds didnt do it for me but I have yet to try the RvR section of the map. I have tried everything else. I love the public quests, I have played around with Apothecary and Butchery and they seem well done. I have a couple of lvl 10s, one Chaos Magus (ranged dps) and one High Elf Swordmaster (tank). I enjoyed both but the tank was a lot of fun to play.

I am going to play the open Beta as well, I think it starts on the 5th or something but I think I might give this a whirl when it is released.

Well, I am off to try some RvR stuff.

I dont know if I will be able to get into a MMORPG ever again. i played alot of Ultima Online back in the day, that game was solid and a good 2d game. I feel like i should be embarassed to be involved in them nowadays, im not sure if anyone shares the feeling

You realize its being made by EA games and Mythic Entertainment? Games Workshop really has no say in it other then giving them the lore that is needed.

It seems like everyone around me at work is buying this game. The guy at the desk to the left of me, the girl to the right and the guy sitting behind me. I know I am going to get overloaded for the next couple months with Warhammer nerd talk when this comes out.

It's not a bad thing... I played Dark age of Camelot for years and loved it

The concept of Realm vs Realm, and large scale battles is nothing new though. People are getting all excited about a game thats been around for a long time. Alot of the stuff they are putting into warhammer, has been tested and fleshed out in Dark age of Camelot already.

I'm happy that there is a flashy new front on the game and hopefully it will bring alot of player to experience a game based on RvR as opposed to PvE... Most people who play both DAoC and WoW, keep comming back to DAoC when the boredom strikes..

I won't be playing warhammer any time soon, as I find my MMORPG time better spent doing other things but I am glad that DAoC is being relaunched with a fancy new Warhammer shine..

Blizzard announced they will be giving us the WotLK talents, barbershops, new zeppelins and a bunch of other stuff in the next patch before the actual expansion is released.

Yeah, I was expecting something like this. Oh well, at least I can style my hair while I am waiting for the Open Beta to start with Warhammer

A couple new arena locations, and letting us start Inscription profession too

I had my suspicions about this, but as it turns out, my nerd-radar didn't pick this up early enough: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...36465187&sid=1

I had better be able to add a 4 foot tall pink mohawk to my tauren....

Honestly, the biggest thing I'm looking forward to in WotLK is the updated lighting system. Dynamic shadowing will go a long way towards making WoW even more addictive I think.

At what point should we stop polloting the Warhammer thread and just create a WotLK thread? :P

so is anyone playing WAR in retail now? i'm a level 23 Sorcerer on the Red Eye Mountain server and having a blast, keep sieges are insane. this is definitely the best pvp mmo made thus far IMO, everything is integrated so well and the balance is remarkably good for release. hitting level 40 and trying to capture capital cities should be awesome
