Default Your opinion of Shaw has increased (+1)

I've been getting a spam fax on my voice line at all hours of the morning for the past few days, so I started to try and figure out how to contact the company to get off the list.. I went to Shaw's site to see what they could do and found out they have a call rejection service built right in!

Just add the number to a selective call blocking list and bam, no more calls.

Impressive!

Just wanted to share in case you had this problem.

Nice. Wish Telus had the same service.

(or maybe they do, but I don't know about it)

I get the lame cruise call as well, any ideas here how we can get them to stop? I think I am going to talk to an agent and book an appointment, every time they call, and not show up. If everyone did that, their system would fail.

I posted this three months ago and no one really caught on. It is certainly a handy feature to have.

Damn, I use Telus and I've been looking for a feature like this. I guess they don't have it...

I have Call Block from Telus and it allows me to block up to 12 numbers. The problem is I usually have more than 12 I would like to get blocked.

How much does that cost? Knowing Telus, I'm afraid to look it up.

It doesn't cost anything extra if you have Shaw digital phone. Some of those other lite packages and whatnot, I'm not sure about.

I haven't gotten a call from a telemarketer in at least 6 months thanks to this feature. Shaw does things with the TV that are a real annoyance, but the internet and phone rock the shiznit.

Because people are afraid of change.

Can't believe I'm going to defend Telus here, but you can get that as one of your calling features in your bundle. For example the calling bundle I have includes 2 calling features, and other bundles include more. Telus just has that as a stand alone price.

As for why I dumped Shaw and went back to Telus- Shaw now has some major customer service issues. If you haven't had to call them recently; good. But they are no longer the company of choice for me.

And if you want to switch back from Shaw to Telus, tell them you want the Winback department, and when you get through ask for their direct number. Winback customers have the option of automatically talking to 2nd level CSRs.
