Anyone see this movie? I just saw it and it had me in stitches! One of the funniest movies I have ever seen.
Synopsis
A man whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend's video store. In order to satisfy the store's most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films.
Stars Jack Black and Mos Def. The Ghostbusters remake made me laugh so hard, I thought I was going to die.

It's kind of an "acquired taste" type of movie. Lots of people won't like it, while others will love it.
It's directed by Michel Gondry, who also did "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" plus many Radiohead music videos, so you know it's very creative.
I'm with you on the Ghostbusters thing. Jack Black singing the theme song is hilarious!

This is one movie I've been dying to see for years, buy every time I go to a video store I forget about it. I heard it's phenomenal...In that bottle rocket, Big Lebowski sorta way.
Anyone know if it's out in a special package/criterion collection DVD?

Well it only was released in the theatres in January this year, and to DVD in June.
As far as I know, there's just a regular single-disc release. Nothing fancy.

I think if you go in expecting it to be phenomenal, you might be a little disappointed. There are very few movies where I have really high expectations and they meet it....Heath Ledger's performance in the latest Batman was one time where it did meet expectations.
I think the key is not expecting too much. I had never heard of this started watching and thought it was awesome. Awesome movie but please ignore the fact that I just said that and carry on like this is a little underground film that might be worth a look not expecting much.
Wasn't bad, but the premise with Jack Black and power station and peeing out the
magnetism annoyed me to no end.
That was the only part that really annoyed me. Other than that, the whole premise of remaking the lost movies was hilarious. Especially Jack Black's version of Jessica Tandy in Driving Miss Daisy. Even after everyone repeatedly told him that she doesn't act like that in the movie.
I thought it was ok... had the potential to be a lot better. Didn't really care for the ending. Like an earlier poster said, I would say probably 5/10.
