Hi guys, I have a Garmin Etrex Legend HCX, I bought it about a year ago now, my software was free and is very ... crappy. I am looking to upgrade, and wondering which brands you would recommend?

It is for hunting and fishing, I use it for light high way travel, but no in city use.

Any suggestions please?

i've heard good things about Tom Tom maps... get something which supports them maybe.

Go with the Garmin Topo Canada, excellent for back country stuff. It get's loaded into Mapsource or you can buy the pre-installed SD cards.

Wait, are you upgrading the gps or the software? I'm a bit confused by SOTF's post now.

It's a bit out of date regarding city streets, but since that isn't what you need it for then it will probably be the best choice (that I know of). I use Topo Canada on my 60cx when camping/hiking and also driving backroads when storm chasing. Very versatile.
