Westjet/Air Canada Seat Sales
Just wanted to give a heads up to all those CP'ers looking for a sweet travel deal. Westjet/Air Canada are currently offering 50% off regular fares until December 22/08 for travel between January 1 to October 31/09.
Got a great deal to take the family to Halifax to see the folks & the tall ships in July.
Seats are filling up quickly by the looks of it.

Yeah Air Canada's sale is awesome, I just booked tix to come to Calgary from SFO..for 300 including tax! That's a steal of a deal!! A few months ago, when they had the fuel surcharge, it was like 500 something! And you have to book by Dec 22nd but the fact that you can book for anytime before Dec 2009 is awesome..I just picked some random weekends The deal from Chicago-Calgary is awesome too, a lot less than my sister usually pays to visit my parents/brother. So if you wanna coem down south (in addition to going to other places in Canada) sometime in 2009, definitely check it out!!!

What is it about Halifax? I'm also looking at going (conference in June). That makes three of us. I'll check this out. Thanks.

As you can guess from my username, I'm originally from Cape Breton. Usually go back every two years. This upcoming year we lucked out 'cause we get to see the Tall Ships. Haven't seen 'em since 2000.
We usually fly into Halifax 'cause it's cheaper than flying into Sydney and just rent a vehicle for a couple of weeks and drive the 4 1/2 hrs to Cape Breton.

Ironically I'm looking at doing the opposite. Drive the 4 1/2 hours from Sydney to Halifax then fly to Calgary.
It's tempting, I have to see what the Flames schedule looks like in January

For you guys going back/forth to Sydney, just thought I'd point out that WestJet is going to start a flight to Toronto as of May 5th next year. Might be easier to connect in YYZ to Calgary than make the drive to Halifax.

Yeah I saw that already. However I'm probably not gonna use that connection to make many Flames games.
I could never understand why WestJet never offered seasonal service to Sydney when Air Canada Jazz puts on seasonal service, and the other discount carriers have offered it in the past.

I've flown back and forth from Calgary to Halifax on Westjet about 6 times now in the past 2 years. Have always paid between 220 and 300 for a one way ticket (all charges in) and never booked more than maybe 14 days in advance.
Looks to be about the exact same price as booking 5 months in advance with this 50% of deal...?
So it's 50% of what? The highest advertised price in the past year? Has anyone out there ever paid 1000 dollars for a return flight to Halifax that wasn't on Christmas Day or something?

Yeah It would have been over 1000 this Christmas for us to go. Was looking for around the 19th til the 30th. Same times last year were about 600. Sister in law paid just over 1200.

I received a westjet 'jetmail' within the last couple of months that was offering 70% off for travel with in Canada. If you sign up they send you an e-mail once or twice a week with there deals listed.
I bought a return flight to Mazatlan in January for $419 incl taxes a couple of weeks ago. It was getting a little nail biting waiting for a 50% sale to come along, but it did, with no surcharge, either!
I like westjet.
