Welcome Winter Calgarians!
While it has yet to be bitterly cold, it looks like we will get some significant snow today with 10-15 cm forecasted and a snowfall warning in effect.
It is near white out over here at the Foothills hospital, snowing quite hard.

It's coming down quite heavy here in Rocky Ridge. I was hoping to go see the Flames game later at a friend's house...darn.

I just came from 85th in the SW, around in springbank then to Hwy 1 east bound and it's crazyness. Hwy 1 is backed up for quite a while trying to get into the city. Semis are having a difficult time getting up that last hill. Lots of trucks in the ditch. I even stopped to see if I could help a guy who somehow has his car in a nosedive, trunk and back end about 3 feet suspended in the air on an on-ramp. HOW THE HELL? The sheer logic of it....

If there was ever a debate between Winter Tires and All Seasons, I can conclusively say that the debate is now over.
First real snowfall with the new winter tires, and man it is like night and day.

First snow which means the city won't be ready to plow and sand until Wednesday. Can't wait for Monday morning.

Yes, the HD channels are all on 82. I was watching TV on an SD TV, but switched to an HD feed to get the signal. It's all good now.
I just came inside from shovelling- if anybody is thinking of waiting until it all stop, I would recommend going out now. That snow is very heavy- the kind that causes heart attacks. I had a good 20cm in places.

I just wanted to plug the "Snow Angel" program that the city has. Seriously if you have elderly neighbours you should help them out with this snowfall. I just shoveled my driveway and it was not only a lot of snow, but very heavy.
I don't have any neighbours around who are elderly...but if you do, save someone a heart attack!

I've had no issues with sat so far (fingers crossed). StarChoice, btw.
But do NOT drive. It is crazy, psycho slippery.

Took me an hour and a half to get to the airport from sandstone. Went to north bound Deerfoot from 64th ave. Everything was going smooth until traffic stopped at Beddington trail. After parking for 20 minutes, I took the Beddington trail turn off to double back and get to country hills blvd. Got stuck once going uphill on Harvest Hills blvd. Made it to Country Hills blvd. Then traffic was backed up right before the big hill going over deerfoot. Figured if everything was so slow, then I wasn't going to make it up the hill. So I double back again, try do go down hill on harvest hills blvd, and theres a double length bus stretched out across an intersection blocking both lanes. So me, and everone else headed in that direction drive up on the median to get around the bus. I get back on Beddington to go southbound Deerfoot to Mcknight. I notice that northbound deerfoot has cleared up(ffffffffkkkkkkkkkkkk). Turn around on 64th and everything was clear the rest of the way.
Guess I should have just chilled on Deerfoot for another 20 minutes. At least I had an excuse for being over an hour late for work.

Coming up to Varsity I decided not to go up Home Road but the road next to it. 3 buses were stuck, 2 on the wrong side of the road. the sander couldn't get by so I had to go through an alley to get to the top of the hill. I love my Nokians.

Any other suckers out there who procrastinated the last month and didn't put their lights up?
It's going to be a lot more fun now than it would have been yesterday. Hot dog.
