Funny/crazy NHL 09 stories

So, I figured since there's quite a few NHL 09 players on here, there's bound to be a bunch of funny/crazy/interesting stories about stuff that's happened in your games. Anyone want to share?

I'll start first. I was playing my custom Be a Pro player in a game versus the Oilers. Out of nowhere, Moss scores a hat trick in the first period, then goes on to score two more later in the game for a total of 5 goals. He literally doubled his goals total in that game! After that 5th goal, I half expected to hear a Safeway Score 'n Win $1 Million winner announced.

Oh, and there was another time where my character was moving into the slot to take a shot when some other guy cross-checks me right in the chest. As my guy is falling backwards, you can see the puck fly up top-shelf, far corner for a goal. My character must have gotten the shot off before falling, but it was timed so perfectly...

Mine would have to be last night playing in the CPHL with cam and sean..... Sean is number 10 and so am I. I was playing rw , cam was c and sean was in net. This was our second game and i was the purple triangle. The previous game i had been green. SO playing the 2nd game i for some reason revert to thinking i am green triangle again , this happens as the purple triangle ( me) takes a pass up the right side. The player is number 10 and im thinking how wierd Cam , Sean, and I are all number 10. SO i'm like breakaway GO, GO, GO and the skater just skates straight into the goalie and puck slides in and scores. Not til i see the scoring scroll announcing the goal do i see that i was the guy with the puck and i am the one who scored.. Kinda Funny..



Also another funny thing is Cam had about 10 penalties in one game

and we were up 2-0 ( same game where i had the funky breakway lol )... and we gave up 2 shorthanded goals in 22 seconds... not funny but a lil wierd

i was benched for two periods after taking a penalty after the first that didnt register, and then I got a penalty in another game and they scored on the man advantage and it wouldnt let me go back out off the bench until the 2nd period.

Thanks for wasting an hour of my time watching video game highlights. Now I'm going to rush home and play NHL 09 instead of getting homework done.

Last night in the last game i played we are tied 0-0 late in the third im in the corner and i center a pass....... Cam was apparently racing down the middle and he is checked in the bag and he is sliding on the ground ... the puck hits him and goes in the net ... a goal for and assist for me and a game winner at that..

thats nothing, in my be a pro Phaneuf was traded for Kariya. This was 2 games in, so I just started over lol

my wife walked by the couch and without thinking I said to her "guess what...i got called up by the flames." she says "what did they call you for?" anyways...after i explained that to her...she says "you talk like it is you personally." of course, i then had to explain that in be a pro it IS me...but i knew she wasn't buying any of that.

I've seen a couple of wacky trades. My favorite was this: I created Backlund and put him in QC - yeah, I know, he's either going to be Top 6 on the Flames or across the pond - and then was shocked to play against him in my BAP...in Peoria.

The Flames traded Backlund and Keetley to the Blues for Dan Hinote and Brad Winchester. What a bizarre trade.

In BAP i was on the bench and they other team came and scored on my goalie, and my goalie started celebrating with them. He was patting the opposing scorer on the head and was part of the "hug" and stuff.

Pretty funny to watch.

Haha, that's pretty hilarious!

For some reason in my BAP, Iginla is on the LW. My character is also a LW, so when I got moved up to the first line, Iggy got bumped down to the second. That's right, a guy with an 80 overall rating bumped down a guy with a 95 overall rating!

Same deal for me, except I'm only a 76 OV Power Forward and I still managed to bump him down, even thou I do have 37 goals in 32 NHL games it should be Iggy on top.

Sadly he only has 30 goals in 63 NHL games.

I got that too!
Me and my bro were playing against each other yesterday (Islanders vs Ducks) and he scored on his own net with the Islanders.
The game splits to the celebration cut scene, and his islander who scored on himself is hugging and patting Getzlaf and Perry.
It was the funniest thing I've even scene in an NHL game.

Whenever I'm playing at home, and they show the cutscene of the away team's bench, I'll always notice one of my players sitting on their bench.

That's probably the craziest thing I've seen thus far.

So, I'm playing as Phaneuf, am a +6, have 11 points in 13 games, 91 hits, 6 Majors and I average 32 minutes. I'm 11th in Norris ranking and positionally am an A+.


Annnnnnd I just got traded to Atlanta. For Lehtonen.

I was manual goalie in the eashl, when the opposing team shot a puck into the corner from their own zone. It then came straight towards me, bounced off my goalie's skate and went in the net. ouch!

Now I always make sure I am right up against the post when a puck goes into the corner!

In BAP after my first season Calgary traded Kiprusoff to the OILERS for Cogliano. I almost threw up and couldn't take it so I quit without saving (I had saved till the draft originally) and then just went through free agency again. It was like a bad nightmare.

Here's one that just happened.

Mitchell is clearing the puck from Bingo Bango, when The Dion (me), trips him, pushing the puck through the 5 hole and into the net. Delayed penalty for Phaneuf, Unassisted goal for Iginla.
