Default Metallica concerts

Who's all going to the shows in Calgary? I am making the trip down for the Thursday show, and then heading back to Edmonton for the show here on Sunday.

Maybe I'll wear an Oiler jersey so you guys know who to look for...it will make it easier for you to find me and buy me a beer that way.

I'm going to the one tomorrow night. Should be another good show, I went to see them the last time they were here as well.

Careful if you wear that jersey though, you might get stabbed...

I'm so jealous. Hopefully they don't take too long to make a trip to Winnipeg.

You didn't consider making a trip to see them?

I did think about it before tickets went on sale but it's really not a good time of the year to be making about a 12-14 hour ride to Calgary with Christmas coming. Plus I was hoping to see Disturbed this Saturday in Winnipeg but I dropped the ball with that and got too picky when looking for seats and didn't realize what I was getting tickets for was at a 1200 seat theatre and not a 12,000+ seat arena.

Haven't seen 'em since '96 (freaking amazing show w/ COC opening) on the Oh Poor Touring Me tour, but I'm relatively stoked to see them.

I'm just glad I skipped the last few tours TBQH.

Buddy's brother just bailed on him so I got offered free tickets to tomorrow night's show! Will probably miss the opening bands, but that's fine. Metallica show #3, here I come!

this will be the 4th tour I've seen them on, starting 20 years ago for the Justice one. Even though the last album was junk, the show was still good. I hope they turn up the volume this time around, though.

I am going on Friday, I am getting off work early and will be thrashing for about 4 hours afterwords. CAN'T WAIT!! I saw them 4 years ago, but I wasn't in to metal that much so I didn't really enjoy it, all I can say is I was a complete idiot back then. No matters, this show will kick so much ass I can't describe how much fun I will have.

This year has been awesome, I have seen Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, In Flames, and tons more. Best year ever, and I turned 18 and went to Europe. Life is sweeeeet.

I'll be at the show on Thursday. I saw them for the first time in 2004, the last time they came through Alberta.

The set list from their Oct 23rd show in Glendale, AZ consisted of the following:

That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
Sad But True
Wherever I May Roam
One
Broken, Beat And Scarred
Cyanide
Frantic
Until It Sleeps
The Four Horsemen
The Day That Never Comes
Master Of Puppets
Fight Fire With Fire
Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
Last Caress
So What
Seek and Destroy

"The Spin reports in their Metallica tour review that Metallica’s props included eight silver coffins (each the size of a car) that hovered above the band, a laser show, a dozen multi-colored flames shooting from effects boxes, giant fireballs coming up from the stage, and tons of flashing red strobe lights."
http://www.spin.com/articles/metallica-kick-world-tour

"The stage was set up in the center of the arena, with microphones placed all around it, so everyone in the audience had a premium view at some point. A cascade of black Metallica beach balls then came bouncing down from the rafters into the crowd..."

http://www.metxxxpage.com/blog/2008/...st-and-review/

Metallica typically mixes the setlist up with 1-2 random songs each night, so the Calgary setlist should be a little bit different.

Blaster: What was the Vancouver setlist?

I'll be at the Friday show. Definately can't wait, this will be my first time seeing Metallica. Missed their last two shows in Calgary back in 2004, and there was no way I was missing them this time around.

Plus, I'm pretty stoked about seeing Lamb Of God for the second time.

I was offered a free ticket to Thu's show, still can't make up my mind. Just don't have any interest in them anymore, the new album is quite uninspiring and the few before that are total garbage. The old material will be great but I'm on the fence.

Good to see that song was played in Vancouver. Hopefully it makes the cut for the Calgary shows.

Just like all older more established bands, it's impossible for them to play all the favorites and there is bound to be people complaining that they didnt play a certain song.

Excellent set list, hopefully they play this one in Calgary. As long as they play Battery I am happy, because I know they will play Puppets and "...Your Life". It would be cool if they played Blackened as well.

Man that set list is good...
