However, later in the broadcast, Rose seemed to contradict himself when he said hes been hobnobbing with former GNR guitarist and songwriter Izzy Stradlin, and strongly hinted that Stradlin may show up for the Hammerstein shows.
Former GNR guitar maestro Slash may end up back in the band as well, but probably not before the Hammerstein shows.
I can't imagine Slash working with Axl again, especially with Velvet Revolver having taken off. But Izzy and Axl writing together again would be amazing.
I still say GnR is one of the biggest flameouts in the history of rock. (Well, it was more of a supernova, IMO) They had a debut album that was a note-perfect classic, and it was all downhill after that.
This isn't exactly new. Every couple of years Axl comes and says the album will be out shortly and it never happens. Axl is a chump now and this will probably end up being shelved again.
Meh. GnR stopped being relevent a decade ago. Gotta give Axl credit though. There arent many people who can stay in the limelight for so long despite having absolutely nothing to offer.
Yeah, that's about right. WTtJ is widely regarded as THE best heavy metal album ever put out, and I'd have to agree. What are the odds...
Uhhhmmm,
Ok, the ALBUM you are talking about was called Appetite for Destruction, the single and lead track was obviously Welcome to the Jungle.
And best heavy metal album ever? Where are you getting that? Personally I'd give the nod to Master of Puppets and I know that's big on the list for most critics, but it's usually divided between Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, Pantera, and a few others. While I love that GnR album, I haven't seen the kudos you have seen apperently.
GnR hasn't done anything since Use your Illusion. With Slash they are done. Without Slash they are super done. Axl was cool in his day, but his attitude and work ethic have kept him from being a true rock superstar. I'm not a huge fan of Velvet Revolver by any means, but it's far better than anything Axl has or will put out.

I'll argue that without even hearing a new GNR song. I bet it will be better than the contrived crap VR puts out. It's garbage with 0 soul. I never liked GNR but it won't be hard to top Velvet Revolver.

Scott Weiland gives me the creeps. Put your shirt on you lizard! Who do you think you are? Iggy Pop?

Right you are on the album title, I obviously was having one of my dense days when I posted that (strange, since I've gone through about four copies of that album). Anyways, the point still stands that it is one of the best heavy metal albums ever, and a lot of people do think it is THE best. In fact, IIRC, I think it was voted as such in some magazine a few years back. Me, I'd have a hard time picking just one, but yeah, Master of Puppets has to be up there.
Me too. As I said in the CD release thread, Chinese Democracy is arguably the worst song from that 9 song leak this summer.
Though to be honest it isn't a bad song like many are saying. It just isn't great and that's mainly because it could have been a song that ending up on the cutting room floor for UYI 1&2. Though to be completely honest Chinese Democracy was a lot of fun in concert (saw them on the ill fated Buckethead tour that blew up after the Madison Square Garden show).
meh, this would have been edgy and cool in the early to mid nineties...
today, just sounds a lot like others....

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
It's been a long time since Guns N' Roses have released an album of new material. Everybody knows this, but it's a fact that bears repeating. If you purchased a kitten on the day that Use Your Illusion I & II arrived in stores, it's probably dead by now. As a consequence, there has been a great deal of pressure on Axl Rose to deliver a record that would validate a 15-year, $13 million wait. There is really only one way for Chinese Democracy to avoid utter and absolute failure: It needs to be the greatest rock album ever made.
Chinese Democracy is not the greatest rock album ever made.
