Too late. You've started me. Biggest bunch of turds I've ever had to deal with.
Long story short, I transferred a decent amount of Euros by wire. Got daily quotes from one of the managers that was always more or less within a cent of midmarket on XE.com.
Got a phonecall one morning before 0800 (since when does the bank phone you at that time) by an irate lady. Said my money had arrived.
Asked her the rate.
She gave me a ridiculous quote.
I asked her why such a crap rate, meanwhile was checking rates on computer. Euro had crashed a full 2 cents overnight.

She replied that that was the rate.
Asked her when did the money arrive.
She foolishly told me 1621 the prior afternoon.
Asked her why wasn't it processed then.
She replies that "she missed it".
I tell her that's too bad and I wanted the rate at the time it arrived at the bank (which I had been promised).
Next thing I'm standing holding the phone about a foot from my ear as this lady has the mother of all meltdowns. Who the hell do I think I am? I was SOL, this was the rate and I was taking it ......... NOW!
I tell her I'm taking nothing, take her name, tell her I am now recording the conversation, instruct her not to touch the money and tell her to get stuffed.
Next stage. I have to take it up with the branch manager ... she's worse.
Tells me first of all that they have a branch policy stating that their business hours are 1000-1600 and that they don't do transactions after that time for money arriving in the bank. I was therefore subject to next days rates.
I ask to see the policy and query why if their business hours start at 1000 fruitcake was ringing me at 8ish.
Sorry .. customers aren't allowed to see it. For staff's eyes only.
I call BS on a policy regarding customer service and say I think it doesn't exist. Later found out she was lying.
Next ... she tells me that even though the Euro had dropped 2 cents from the time of arrival I was in fact getting a better rate now than I would at the time of arrival. Work that one out.
She's unaware the whole conversation is being recorded and won't confirm the telephone conversations by e-mail.
Cut along story short, I instruct her not to touch the money (she's threatening to send it back) and go to the next step (office of president). They tell me she has no right to do anything against my wishes until the matter is resolved. They question the information I gave them regarding what she told me. I play the recordings. The fella on the other side is speechless.
30 minutes later I get a call telling me I will get the rate I was supposed to get (+ a bit extra as a goodwill gesture for the hassle). Apologize and say they will be investigating the manager, FEX person and the branch's practices.
I honestly believe to this day that it might have been a branch specific scam and they were blatantly trying to rip me off.
footnote. This happened in Ottawa. My experiences in Calgary were nothing short of excellent.
