I will say Tuxedo Cycle and Sports on center street because I have gone there since I was little and they are great people.

Absolutely, and make sure to head downstairs where the real bulk of their stock is. They only have a few racks on the main floor.

Tuxedo, B & P, and Adrenalin on Macleod just south of Heritage are all awesome.
B & P probably has the widest selection, however Tuxedo and Adrenalin have a ton as well.
When you figure out which stick you want, as the prices at can vary quite a bit between those three stores (one is not generally cheaper than the next...it varies with every stick model).

You can always find the one you like then head over to http://www.hockeymonkey.com and get it for cheaper... but you have to wait a while for shipping.
I'm currently in love with my new green Easton Synergy, 100 flex, sakic curve. Shoots a little high but I like it like that... if only I could score on my guaranteed breakaway per game, I'd be doing jar_e good.

Dont buy in calgary unless you absolutely have to. If you dont want to order from the US, call Cyclone Taylor sports in Vancouver. They have very good prices and if ordered, can be shipped via Greyhound, so in a couple days.
I check out the sticks in the stores here and order from Cyclone taylor. Make sure to tell them you want the online pricing since you are from Calgary.

I understand buying online is cheaper, sometimes quite a bit, but I try to buy local as a lot of these places employ younger kids and having a job keeps them out of trouble, especially when it is a job doing something fun like talking hockey or sports.

i think it's too hard to find the curve i want online. also, i never, i mean never take a slapshot, even though i play D, so a stick with more flex is what i prefer. right now i'm using an 85 flex, and i love it. i guess i can cross reference a stick online if i find one in store i like. thanks again guys!

One of the lowest, most unethical things you can do is to occupy a salesperson's time in a store, milk their product knowledge, and then go home and order it online from some other retailer---all for the sake of a few bucks.
OK, there's plenty of things that fall lower on the scale of ######baggery, but my point is that if you're gonna do that, tell the employee you're just looking and don't take from them without giving the possibility of your business.
Good for you The Ditch! I like your attitude. You must have good karma.
Just a rant from someone who used to work in sales...

Exactly...support the small sports stores in town...we had the one in Camrose go out of business last year and is sucked. I had to drive an hour to get my skates sharpened since they went under...and it was brutal. Shop Sport Chek or Sport Mart then order online, but don't do that to the guys who have their own businesses.
P.S.---Synergy ST or Easton Z-Carbon for the win!

Don't worry, if you go to a place like sportcheck or play it again, there is 0 chance someone will approach you and show you any time. I think I spent 20 minute in there once, had to get everything myself while the kids just f'ed around in the back shop.

I noticed the Canadian Tire flyer - for this weekend only - has WinnWell XT composite sticks on for 40% off: $29.99, regular price $49.99. They come in any color as long as it's white.
