WTB: LINKSYS router WRT54GL or WRT54G Version 1 thru 4

Looking to buy a used router.
Only looking for the above models.
Anybody got a used one (that still works) that they aren't using anymore?

Memory Express up in the NW had a few left a few weeks ago (I went and got one). Have you tried calling to see if they have stock? I wouldn't go by the webpage @ all

If they are selling the WRT54G, I suspect they are the new Version 8 models. Thats no good for me. I need Versions 1 thru 4.

As for the WRT54GL, I'm not surprised they are selling them. I just don't want to pay new price of $75.00.

I'm looking for something cheaper, thats why I'm looking for a used model.

Nope, it was the GL they were selling for $75, so you are right there. I asked if they had any of the "older" versions and said they had to restock them cause of the firmware being flashable. Unless someone has one they want to get rid of, Ebay maybe a good choice. I dont even know any stores that sell used routers off the top of my head.

Does Tigerdirect or ncix sell them?

The cheapest new WRT54GL that I've found so far on the internet, is at Compu2000 out of Richmond BC, for $53.00 + $8.00 shipping.

Something like this, even used, isn't really worth buying on e-bay as shipping charges would be quite high out of the USA, and I'm not really sure I want to buy a used router from someone in Dogpatch USA, where I really have no effective recourse if its a piece of junk.

So far, I'm not having too much luck searching the internet for a used router locally. I've called a few of the used computer equipment stores here in Calgary, and they don't bother keeping and selling used routers.

Because these little devices were the best deal in a router ever, they had to gimp them up because they were cutting out on higher end devices... ie (same device with different firmware)... They are very hard to find.. I have a couple but not gonna get rid of them.

I found the Asus 500 g or whatever it's serial number is, is a good alternate to flash with dd-wrt..

It's hilarious, goto any data center downtown and you will find 3 or 4 of these sitting in the cabnets...
