Lost- Season 5 starts in January

Is anyone else looking forward to the new season? I believe it starts in January. This is a really the only TV show I try to watch.

Yup, can't wait. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought the show took a giant leap forward last season.

My wife and I follow the show. I am not into SciFi, but for some reason I dig this show. I wonder how long they can stretch the concept out, though.

I heard the whole show was written or planned our, with a set number of shows to let the story unfold....then it was done.

I also an not into Scifi....but yeah this show interests me.

yup, this season (5th) and one more...... of 15ish episodes? They negotiated a deal so they knew when the endpoint was and could plan accordingly.

Couldn't agree more.

I thought it was every bit as good as the first season, maybe better. The second and third seasons had the show starting to feel loose, which is usually the beginning of the end of 'long story arc' shows. But it did such an outstanding Job of tying everything back, and the reduction in episodes kept the season free of filler.

Once the series is done, I'm going to buy the DVD set and take a week off work and just watch it all. The last season has cemented Lost as being a masterpiece imo, a show thats integral to the history of television, like MASH or the simpsons. It will take its place in the halls of nerddom next to star wars and LOTR's.

I'm trying to think what show started the whole 'long story arc' style and I can't think of anything earlier than Buffy, anyone?

I never watched it when it first came out, but the Space network recently started airing them from the beginning and I started...I think they're nearly done the second season, and I love it. I'm going to have to rent the third and (when it's available) fourth seasons so I can catch up come January.
