Pepsi's got a new look!
Quote:
Today, Pepsi, with strategic help from Edelman, reached out to 25 "digital and social media influencers" with three separately-shipped packages. The first contained five cans representing logo design from 1898 to 1950. The second contained five cans representing logo design from 1962 to 1998. The third contained (yes, you guessed it) the newly launched can design - six of them full of actual Pepsi.

Maybe a little too clean a design for my tastes. Interesting that the look of the logo changes depending on the product.

Interesting. I think I actually like the retro ones (left box) the best though.

Can change their look all they want, still can't beat Coca-Cola's classic taste!
Let the war begin.

I love the way that new one looks - I'm such a fence-sitter when it comes to Pepsi v. Coke, I enjoy them both about equally but usually have Coke in the house. I'll always be partial to the second can from the right, don't know why, perhaps it's me fondly remembering my youth. Isn't that the can that ran along the ad campaign with Cindy Crawford? Sigh ...

Maybe they should honor the outgoing President instead.
Presenting "Red Bull-crap cola".

Looks cool, I like the retro ones as well as the new design. Smart marketing to put out a fresh new look.

None of the cans ever really looked like that. Notice how they don't include any of the other junk you always see on cans....taglines, volume, ingredients. Of course it's going to look beautiful and clean when you take the junk away, but that's not realistic.
The ones in the right box are pretty recent, and since when has anyone seen cans like that? For the last few years I remember the cans being blue, not white.

Saw the new logo a couple weeks ago, was perplexed with the red/white/blue circle dealie. What's that supposed to be, a white tongue? A mouth? Trying to subconsciously induce a connection between the logo and my tongue/mouth?
Do like the lettering, though. Nice and simple. Going the direction every other company is... the simple, clean look. Case in point: http://www.smashingapps.com/2008/11/...spiration.html

I'm the same, but I have my rules: Pepsi for drinking, Coke for mixing.
A rum and Pepsi just tastes weird, and a Coke by itself tastes awful.

I would go as far as saying Coke by itself tastes awful. I don't mind it. But the rest of what you say is bang on. Coke for mixin' Pepsi for drinkin'

I don't think they intended to give out cans that looked like the cans of those eras did, only to show what the logos from those eras looked like.

Interesting to see the new design, but unless I'm missing something it's not really THAT big of a deal.... is it? They seem to change designs all the time, and I rarely even notice. It's still blue, says pepsi on it, and has the logo which is slightly modified, It doesn't seem that different to me.

I have seen all the new cans together and it's really interesting that the logo adjusts according to the type of Pepsi. Overall, I won't drink it just because of a redesign but I do like the look.
When it comes to a company like Pepsi and rebranding... I say, why not?
