wranglers GDT: QC Flames @ Houston Aeros - 3/10/09

QC gets David Van der Gulik and Brett Sutter back. Hopefully both can make it to Texas in time for tonights game against the Aeros. The teams finish up their season series with 2 games in Houston; tonight and Friday. The Flames won 3 in a row over the weekend to pull even with Peoria and claw closer to a playoff spot.

Stat of the day: Houston has climbed into 2nd place in the division while still maintaining a negative goal differential as a team.

fyi - on the game sheet sutter is not listed. i did not listen to the pregame, but i would assume sutter didn't make it in time.

carpentier looks like the odd man out. he is not listed on the game sheet though bowers still is. additionally palin and pelech both appear to still be out.

flames lose 3-1. vdg managed a PP goal in his first game back. however the flames were again burned by former flame krys kolanos.

the baby flames have still yet to be above .500 all season...

I watched the game....waaaay too many turnovers and not quite enough mucking for the puck.

I can't believe, given 3 tough games in the days over the weekend followed by a day of travel on Monday, that the Flames weren't pretty wiped. Houston had a road game last Sunday, then came home and played only Thursday and Saturday last week, so definitely were more rested. Not an excuse, though....we should have been ready to play.

Three nights til the rematch. Hopefully they will use this time to rest up and come out with more energy on Friday.
