Default For those with Asthma....Do Air Humidifiers/Air Purifiers Noticeably Help?

Hi, I don't have asthma, but I know someone who does. Essentially, I was thinking of getting them an air humidifier or air purifier as a gift, but only if it has a positive affect on asthma sufferers in the home. I read some reviews, some of which were too glorious to be plausible, while others were disconcerting claiming negligible benefits. For those CPers with experience (known someone with asthma or has asthma themselves), could you jot down a few lines regarding whether air humidifiers or air purifying machines in your home helped mitigate the nastiness of asthma, particularly in the winter months. Thanks for any useful comments!

I have a slight case of asthma. Air purifiers are suppose to help, and for myself, they do seem to help a bit. I've put the contraption up where the sun comes in from the window, and seen it in action. They definitely suck a lot of dust out of the air over time.

Humidifiers, on the other hand, seem to make things worse.

Long time Asthma sufferer here.

Humidifiers do nothing for me, and purifiers only work if your attacks are triggered by something in the environment like pet dander or smoke. Honestly, a clean home without a dog (in my case) helps just as much.

Unfortunately, knowing your body and certain drugs are the only thing that have helped me.

LOL asked this same question today in the Buy/Sell thread. I can't believe the huge range of air purifiers, prices, etc. It's so confusing.
Was hoping someone had one they liked or could offer advice.
