Alopecia
Anyone here have it or had it? I got this little bald spot on the side of my head pointed out by my barber. I had it once before and it went away within a month. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this.

I know it doesn't help much, but it was going to come up sooner or later...

Set up an appointment with a dermatologist, he can shoot your scalp up with cortisone, which should do the trick.

I had it once when I was in elementary. The hair just grew back after a little while and haven't suffered from it since. I was the target of jokes for a while in the school yard due to it. Apparently it can be a chronic problem in some people, but luckily since it has been so many years without an occurrence for me, the chances of a recurrence are low for myself.
I didn't need the cortisone injections, but it might be something you want to consider. Talk to a dermatologist about it.

We're good friends, me and alopecia.
I got it in my late 20s. A little hair on the pillow. A little bald spot on my head.
8 weeks later I had no hair.

Isn't that what Toronto Raptor Charlie Villanueva has. I think I heard that at at one point.

Hmmm, relapsing-remitting hair loss such as your story is out of keeping with standard male pattern baldness. If you don't have a history of trauma, or corn rows (seriously), then you start to wonder about auto-immune processes. I'd go see your GP about it for further work up.

I was JUST (like literally 15 seconds ago) looking up what this word meant because it's listed as a side effect for my dad's chemo medicine, and low and behold, there's a thread for it!

Are you sure he did not just slip with the clippers and blame it on Alopecia?

You do have a very un-orthodox approach to things, and yet you're not too far off the mark. But by us saying things with 5x the words, half of them made up as we go, makes us seem smarter. So there!

I had it when I was like 12, supposedly it was stressed related. I was missing big blotches of hair but eventually it grew back and I haven't had any problems with it since.

Alopecia universalis is when you lose all your hair.
Cortizone injections are step 1. Prednesone was step 2 for me. I opted out. No big deal for a guy to be bald. Most people don't even clue in. They just ask how often I shave my head.
Would suck to be a bals chick though.
