Default Recommended Dog Groomer

I did a quick search and didn't see anything so...
We got a puppy back in May. She's part Havanese so her hair has gotten quite long now. We have been brushing it daily or every other day so the hair is in good shape. She had a few matts near her butt but they seem to form as we're brushing them out.
Anyhow, we figure its time to get her a professional hair cut. She tends to freak out when we try to do it so it's going to be struggle at a groomers too.

We're just looking for some suggestions of good groomers to go to (preferably in the North). We have heard horror stories of some people dropping off their dog and having it come out shaved bald, which we definately dont' want to happen.

Anyone have any suggestions?

My parents who live in Ontario found some lady who does it just privately in her own home, apparently she smokes a lot of medicinal marijuana and the house just reeks of it. But she's the only groomer my dog didn't freak out with. He did leave rather hungry though... heh

Wags to Wiskers on 68th ave NE. great places, been taking our dogs there for 15+years. They do competitive shows and have the awards to prove it

Doggie Style on Bow Trail is excellent, but hard to get in, long waiting list.

Mucky Pups in Canyon Meadows is good too.

My wife is a dog groomer, professionally trained at A Royal Touch. We live in the North..it's a home based business.

Don't take your dog to Canine Corral in Hidden Valley. We took our in-law's dog there and they shaved it. They said it was too matted so they gave up. They didn't even call us to let us know.

We take our dog to Petland in Coventry. They've been great and do a really good job.

Thanks for alll the information everyone! I'll make some phone calls tomorrow. Her hair isn't too matted....a couple around the hind legs, but she isn't the most well-behaved dog when getting brushed. Loves people when they aren't brushing her though so we'll see.

And thanks for the website Radio. I'll fire off an email or phone call to your wife tomorrow.

My dog used to go to The Barking Lot in Midnapore. Then he got expelled.

No problem, a phone call would be better for her..she's not very computer literate quite yet.
