Default Missed Toll Payment on Chicago Road

I was in Chicago two weeks ago and I rented a car. Without going into detail I missed paying the toll on the freeway 3 times all together. The toll was .80 cents per use and I was going to pay it online when I got home.

Needless to say I was going through my stuff today and found my reminder to pay the toll. I only had 7 days to make the payment online and now I guess it will be a violation. Does anyone know how much that is going to be?

I went onto the Illinois toll road website to try and find the amount but I couldn't find a actual dollar amount.

If anyone knows I would appreciate a response as I would like to know how much the rental company is going to charge my credit card once they get the violation notices.

I did not pay the toll thus it is now a violation.

I don't see where it says what the violation is

I found where it says they'll forgive 2 violations, so that's 2 of 3 you don't have to worry about. The third violation I'm not sure about.

Maybe call them, being from another country (assuming you're living here in Canada) they might excuse the third as there isn't much they can do to come after you to pay it anyway (at least not to my knowledge)

I bet the rental company charges you an admin fee as well; something insanely disproportionate to the actual fine, no doubt

That's why I would make an effort to get this cleared up ASAP. Yeah, it sucks to pay $60 for $3 worth of tolls. But its worse to pay the car rental place $120.

And on most rental contracts there is usually a clause about traffic charges coming up after the fact, and how they have the right to charge your CC.

Option B is to either report that card as "lost", or to rack it up to its limit and keep it there for a couple of months. The latter might cost you more in interest however.

I've done the same thing several times, in a rental car. I never heard anything else about it.

I always liked that the toll roads that you pay to use are the worse in the state.
