My job has a very random schedule and I actually like it. I hated the Monday-Friday grind - same thing week after week. Barf.

I'd say that someone has a case of the mondays but it might not be applicable here.

Yeah I have so-called "rotating" days off. Like Monday off this week, Tuesday next....I ave a weekend every 6 weeks. It's not normal. There were some college courses I'd love to take on Saturdays...ppffft....wrong!!

The worst part, and perhaps you don't have to deal with this, but it's that I have random shift times, too. Sometimes I start at 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm... it sucks ass.

I worked @ a place that did similar. Before they hired me, I told them I had no problem working 6 days a week (I didn't). What I did have a problem with, was the day that they gave me off. It was something crazy like a tuesday or wednesday. I explained to my boss right away that having those days did nothing for me. After a few weeks of basically having no social life (this was also a night shift job) I quit.

Ha ha oh man you have no idea.
I can start anywhere from 5 pm - and 2 days later start at 3 am, and everything in between.
3 am - that does suck ass. When you are leaving for work and pass by guy stumbling home from the bar - that's fracked up.

I have worked shift work during the winter time for the past 5 years. This winter is the first time in said 5 years, that I am on straight days. I actually like shift work. I loved having time off during the week. Malls were less busy, roads were less busy. I just liked the variety. Yeah, working weekends and holidays often sucked, but I got used to it. It was easier for me because I don't have a wife or kids, so I can definitely sympathize with people who have families.

In Florida? Haha, that's cool! When you say big hit what do you mean?
-I just feel like these days are either crazy productive and don't feel like days off, or their crazy boring and feel like a waste of time.

I like working odd hours. Unfortunatelt or maybe fortunately, the carreer I hope to bet getting into is a M-F, "9-5" aka 8-4:30...
Not sure how well I am going to handle that. I like odd hours. Best job I had was at the airport, from 2pm until 1am 4 days a week, but the schedule was set so every week I got Sun, Mon, Tues off.

I work Wednesday through Sunday every week. Weds-Friday I work 1pm-9pm while Sat & Sun I work 9am-7pm. It's kind of lame, in that my gf works Mon-Fri 9-5, and my friends are all going out on weekends when I can't, but it's kind of nice to have two days off when Shanghai is so insanely busy with people and I can chill out a bit more. Still, I'm looking for 9-5 soon too, just to be on the same page as everyone else.

I meant it in a good way. I didnt start keeping up with NHL hockey until March 2007. But these guys remember Bertuzzi for better or worse and they just think that avatar is really creative. I show it to everyone who might be interested (on my phone) They like Table5s too.

What part of Silicon Valley do you live in? Haha nevermind I know where you live. But seriously...who starts at 10 am? More like 8 am until 6-7 pm but a lot of people (aka ME) take 2 hour lunches to do errands.

We work 3 days a week, 4 days off. Two 16 hour shifts and an 8 hour overnight shift.
We used to rotate, start a day earlier every week, but we decided to try fixed days off this year.
My days off are Monday-Thursday, my work schedule is:
Friday 6am-10pm 16 hrs
Saturday 9am-1am 16 hrs
Sunday 10pm-6am 8 hrs
It works great for our dual income family with a couple of kids, no child care bills.
I worked retail for about 6 years while I was going to school, I hated it and vowed to never do it again.

Hey, now that sounds like my life right now....it's not so bad, I guess. At least, come 4:30 I can run outta the front door of the office and not think about it again till 8am the next day.
In the M-F grind, Monday mornings and Friday afternoons are the WORST....absolute worst.

Some hole community, where do you live?
My roommate does 10-7. One of his friends does 1-7 for IBM lol, another IBM friend does 11-7.

At least you dont have "split shifts". When I worked in restaurants i used to work 12:00pm-2:30pm and then 6-10, 6 days a week...Now that was awful.
