Default Work Fridge

So, we've got a few fridges here at the office, and the specific one that I use is used by maybe 3 or 4 other co-workers. So we usually know who's stuff is who's, and usually ask if we want to use someone's stuff (jam, cream cheese, bread, etc.)

Was in the office studying over the weekend and bought a 2 L orange juice, didn't even think twice about leaving it in there to drink at work. Now I constantly see this lady who's here to train a new hire walking around with a full cup of orange juice. Now I feel like I'm back in elementary school having to put post it's on all my stuff in the fridge. Am I wrong to get agitated by this????

<end rant>

wow.. people are brave. I could never drink something that I couldn't verify the source. At least an unopened and non-expired drink is safe... but how does this lady know you don't chug out of the bottle?

Suggestion? Replace orange juice with yellow juice.

I'd be pissed if someone was stealing my orange juice.
If the culprit was a man I'd say "poison" your own orange juice with crushed up viagra pills for your revenge.

If your work fridge is regularly used for communal items like mine is then you should've labelled it. If not, then she's wrong to assume it's for her to share.

edit: oh, missed the part where you said it's typically 3 or 4 coworkers using the fridge.

yeah, poison her.

I don't see juice as a communal item, unless its kool-aid.

She's wrong and you should inform her of this. Unless your company provides free drinks/food for employees why would she think any differently.

I wouldnt get too upset, visitor doesnt know the rules. If it was a normal coworker, it would be rubicon time damn mofos.

Its a hard situation to deal with, I cant provide any tangible advise that I would actually act on myself in a similar situation.

If there's a fridge in the workplace she should know that workers keep thier stuff in there. Even if she didn't know she should have asked for clarification anyway. Ignoarnce is no excuse for what she is doing.

I should post an email sent recently to my entire project team (400 people). Complaining in the worst run on sentence ever, that someone unplugged the fridge in the coffee station and this guys lunch was ruin.

From my perspective there are two ways to deal with this situation, the moist maker way and the way that keeps it bottled up and more jaded and careful for next time.

Also, is it just me or does a fridge in a common area for 4 people seem a bit strange?

Well the fridge is there for the entire office, but no one uses it because they buy their lunch. We also have a MINISCULE number of workers working here compared to what it was 2 years ago.

I have just put a nice large post it with my name on the orange juice, if I see her with some OJ in a cup again, I'll have to say something.

There's no way she get's free anything at her own office, so no reason to think anything's free here.

I think I'd make a point of drinking from the jug in front of this person.

Perhaps some extreme coughing would not be out of place.

Spitting into it should do the trick

Just put a note on it saying "May or may not contain spit. Be advised".
