Scotch drinkers: Brand of choice.
I'm a scotch drinker, but I'm stuck in a rut. I'm looking to branch out and try other brands, so let fly with suggestions please.
I regularly drink Bushmills 10 year and McLellands Highland and a few other brands. I think it's time to try some others.
And if anyone wants to get together for a monthly scotch and cigar night, let me know.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I do like Johnny Walker Red. I haven't really gone out to try different brands though, so this thread is getting bookmarked.

I recommend going to a scotch tasting event. Then you can try a wide cross section without having to blow $50 on one bottle just to try something out. I did this a few years ago, and it was great.

Check with the liquor store in Bankers Hall. They have wine and scotch tastings about once a month and they're reasonably priced events, not to mention the fact that the train station is close by so you don't have to worry about having a bit too much.

Not trying to be a smartass but Bushmills is Irish.
The differences between the 2 whisk(e)ys.

Brought some home from the distillery there too. Great stuff.
I'd be interested in a scotch group.

I know absolutely nothing about any kind of liquor BUT I have been told by more than one person that blended scotch is not very good

Glenlivet in all its varities is still my favorite. Balvenie is pretty interesting too. Many scotch drinkers believe single malt to be better than blended. I also tried Glenmorangie didn't give it much of a chance. Probably good to keep a little notebook around when you try something new.

I prefer my scotch with a peaty taste so I tend to favour Islay malts. Caol Ila and Lagavulin are my favourites. Also really like Talisker.
I found a bottle of McClellands Islay single Malt in the superstore liqour store the other day for $25, I had never tried it so I picked it up. It was actually pretty good stuff and for the price its a steal.

Thanks for the mention of Caol Ila as I have been going crazy trying to remember that name.

Single malt for sure, Glenlivit, Glenmorangie. Cardhu was really good but they stopped making it I believe it got bought out, my parents still have a couple of bottles left they had found in the Bahamas. Actually I like almost any single malt Scotch is like candy to me.
