Movie trailers will never be the same. Voiceover Master Don LaFontaine dead at 68.
Quote:
LaFontaine, known as the "King of Voiceovers," died Monday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. LaFontaine's agent, Vanessa Gilbert, tells ET that he passed away following complications from Pneumothorax, the presence of air or gas in the pleural cavity, the result of a collapsed lung. The official cause of death has not yet been released.
Sounds like a heck of a guy too. Sometimes the impact someone has on something isn't known until that person is gone. I think that, though he has been appreciated at times, we will all notice his absence.

I've always wondered who did those voiceovers. RIP.

I read that he was in the hospital last week. RIP Don.

Honestly who hasn't pretended to be him at one point in your life?
Sad stuff!

R.I.P. but there are many guys who can do the same voice.
Like the guy who does the Arnold "GET TO THE CHOPPAAA" skit was all about imitating him. I've always preferred some other guys (I think Victor Carolli?) who did voiceovers too to Don LaFontaine.
The guy was great, but honestly, I was getting a little tired of virtually every trailer sounding the same. I'm looking forward to a little more variety.
