Question Police Releasing Inmate Information to the Public

So, the Calgary Police have issued a warning to women in the city about an inmate about to be released with a history of violent crimes. (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/sto...k-release.html)

My wife and I differ in opinion about whether the police should be allowed to do this, what do you think?

For the record, I believe that the CPS puts a great deal of thought into who they release information on and who they don't and if they see fit to release that information, I am all for it.

She believes that the man has done his time and should not have this information released to the public about him.

I'm very surprised any woman would be okay with his info not being released. He may have done his time but that does not mean for certain that he's changed. Saw them talking about this guy last week on the news and honest to God I feel bad for every woman in this city, knowing this predator could potentially ruin anyone of their lives.

Good to know our courts let diagnosed psychopaths who break into peoples houses with the intent of raping women, walk about the streets. Frankly he should have to live in a house painted bright pink with a giant "Im a rapist" sign permanently planted in his front lawn.

If this man still poses a danger to women then yes all information regarding this man should be made public. He may have done his time but they obviously feel he hasn't been rehabilited and he still poses a danger.

Now his lawyer complains that his right to start a new life is jeopardy.Well boo hoo! We all have choices in life and this man chose to commit crimes of a sexual nature. He made his bed and must sleep in it now. I have no sympathy for released inmates being put in this situation.

There are no victims only volunteers!

if you have to warn the public about their release, these prisoners should never get out.

Personally I don't think you should ever get out of jail if you're convicted of rape.

When they assess a soon to be released sex offender as an extreme risk to re-offend then the police are obligated to release the information to the public.

I've said it a along that individual human rights are a good thing, but I think that public safety has to take precedence over individual rights.

This guy is a rapist who breaks into homes and he's a for real gosh darm psychopath, which probably means that any treatment that they gave him in jail isn't going to change his behavior.

They should have his picture up in every corner of the neighbourhood he's moving into, just like they should post pictures of convicted gang members, murderers etc.

Personally, If you don't release information as a standard for everyone, then maybe those that you selectively pick to release information about, shouldn't be leaving jail in the first place.

The guy is a clinically diagnosed psychopath; he is not well and should be considered highly dangerous.
