Just for Simmer..Blues and Wild hook up

The Blues and Wild hooked up on a quick deal today. Going to the Wild is LW Rene Bourque and coming back to the Blues is multi purpose forward Tuomo Ruutu. The Blues got the upgraded contract and OV and the Wild got the cap space they so desperatly desired. So going into the season, The Blues will ice the following line-up:


Malone-Thornton-Satan
Samsanov-Avery-Vyborny
Grier-Ruutu-Gordon
Bradley-Hamilton-Kostopoulos

Jackman-Rozsival
Commodore-Johnson
Mottau-Greene

Nabakov
Thibault

We think the Blues should beat their 10th place finish from last season, and even hope to win the division.

Well the Wild are now under the cap, been a struggle this off-season to shed over 15 million and still sign some key guys like Bouw.

This deal on paper isn't great but I looked around the league and found there were very few teams that had cap to spare and a lot of teams still needing to shed some - so I jumped when I had a chance to get my house in order.

Now that I have - Sundin will retire and I'll lose Gomez and suddenly have an ass-load of cap.

Wow, two recent Columbus Blue Jackets traded for one another. Oddly enough I used Ruutu and my ability to absorb a monster cap hit to get Markus Naslund.....than about a month later I was moving out Bourque to clear out some cap space. No doubt that if you want to get on the better end of a deal these days, you can do it if you can absorb a sizeable cap hit.
