Going to Helena, Montana for 3 days
Obviously not as big as NYC, Rome etc., but what the hell is there to do there, and in it's surrounding area?

Haven't spent much time there myself. Lots of history if you are into that. I am, most people aren't. Notoepik would be the person to ask...I believe she had a kid at Carroll College in Helena.

All I've done is drive through the place so I can't tell you much.
What little I can say is that you could see a Helena Brewers game - they're the Milwaukee Brewers' rookie level team so you could see a possible future MLB star.
They also have an IHOP.

I was just there last week as we made our way to Yellowstone national park. Truth be told, if you stopped at Great Falls, then it's kinda like Great falls. Kinda boring. Nothing really to do, except Great Falls got a bunch of casinos. We spent our time drinking in the hotel rooms lol.

It's worth walking around the town, there are some really nice buildings there from churches to individual homes.

There's a nice mountain pass about 25 min west of there on the main non-interstate hwy out of town. Some good views if the place is open on top
There's also a small Macy's for good shopping and an applebees for cheap eats.

There is a Casino on every other corner, and check cashing places or pawn shops on every other corner.
Seems like a good setup to me

It's supposed to be the "cultural capital" of Montana. I've never been there myself, just driven through it. Montana is actually a pretty sweet place, if you have time, go down to Bozeman which is a bit more of a hub these days.
Booze is also dirt cheap in Montana and there is no sales tax!

Near there. Butte.
Plenty of old gold, silver and copper mines around Helena though. Not sure how developed they are for tourism.

A guy on my beer-league team signed to play junior there last year, but had to go play in the KIJHL 'cause he couldn't get a visa.
All I remember about Helena is how quiet it was, not too far from Great Falls if you have a car though.

There is a train tour that takes you around all of the historical buildings around the Capitol as well. Last Chance Gulch Rd. downtown has some nice restaurants and taverns you could visit.
The Gates of the Mountains Wilderness Area is nice. Its not Banff, but lovely nonetheless.

Evil Knievel is from that area, maybe there is some sort of museum set up in his honour?

Evel is from Butte, and there is a museum there. Evel Knievel Days was just a couple of weeks ago. Butte knows how to party.

I think everyone knows that there's no party like a Butte party.

That is what I read when I saw the thread title. Stupid brain. How old is that girl? Is it wrong to make inappropriate comments?

I was trying to recall whether the Battle of Little Bighorn was nearby. It was, relatively speaking, but it's still a bit of a drive from there. Kind of cool to see such a famous battleground.

Off topic... but if you're driving through Shelby, Montana... Earla had the Heineken 5L kegs for $18 at the am/pm truck stop.
