Default streaming video problems

I have problems watching videos on certain sites, like cbc and nhl.com, as well as flames tv on the flames site. Basically I can only watch about 2 seconds of video before it buffers for 5-10 seconds. This happens with every video on these sites, and so it makes them unwatchable. So I am wondering if there is a setting on my end somewhere (increase allocated memory, or prioritizing videos, something like that) that I can adjust to help stop the constant buffering?
Sites like youtube, funnyordie, google video I don't have this prob, which makes me think it's more on the sites end, but still wondering if there is something I can do. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Are they windows media player plugins? If so you should be able to manually adjust your windows media player buffer to something bigger, like 60 seconds. The initial load will be longer, but it should chop out less.

I think most of the sites I have problems with have embedded media players, and not sure what plugins they are using. FlamesTV for example is one I can't watch. I think maybe I'll just go try a couple videos there and see if there is something I can find to adjust the buffer size. As an example on the opposite end, I just watched the video about that killing on the bus (nasty business that is btw ) and had absolutely no buffering happen at all.

*edit* ok, went to nhl.com, and played a video, as well as flamestv. seems to be a prob with the nhl site, as I found the settings for allowing storage on my computer for adobe flash player, and set everything to allow unlimited storage for video data, but nhl.com only uses 2 kb at a time of that unlimited storage, so I think that's where the problem is stemming from. As I said, some sites run entire long videos without ever buffering, so don't think it is a global setting on my comp, which is what I originally thought.
