Hey,

I thought I'd make football a little more interesting by playing the pro-line on the games this weekend. So far things are looking good, I bet on the St. Louis Rams to beat the Seahawks, and the Jets to beat the Chargers.

The only issue is, I've never played point spread before, so I'm not sure how it works. On my ticket there's a number, 6.5, beside the Chargers, which I'm assuming means that their favoured by 6.5 points.

So, the game is in overtime right now. Seems to me that no matter which team scores the winning field goal, I win? If the Chargers do it, they only win by 3, which means (if i'm using the phrase properly) they didn't cover the spread. So, even though San Diego wins the game in real life, I still win on my ticket betting on the Jets, because San Diego only won by 3 points?

Anyone else play this that can tell me?

I guess its not a huge issue, the Jets won in overtime. I can't believe San Diego missed that fieldgoal, sucks to be the rookie kicker.

I'm not a huge Sports Select player, but I'm quite sure that's how it works.

While it must suck to be Kaeding, it has to feel good to be Barton right now (LB who had the roughing the passer on the 4th down in regulation).

My only worry is that there is some sort of tie issue that I'm not aware of, like if the score is w/in 3 points of the spread, its a tie or something. I doubt it though, there was no 'tie' option on the fill-out sheet.

Ties only apply in Pro-Line if you are not playing the spread.

The point spread works like this:

You have San Diego v New York, San Diego favoured by 6.5

You choose San Diego. In order for you to win, San Diego must win by 6.5 points or more (so, 7 or more). If San Diego wins by 6 or less, or if they lose, you lose.

You choose New York. In order for you to win, New York must win, or if they lose, they can lose by no more than 6 points.

No tie issues within 3 points. That's only Pro Line.

But it looks like everything's been answered anyways...

Judging from the score half-way through the second quarter, I hope you picked the Colts to cover the spread today.
