Default Twitter Help

Hello all.

I am sure one of you tech savvy people could help me. I just signed up to receive tweets from Bob Mac and Pierre LeBrun so I can get my hockey fix while still on the golf course or wherever. I have a blackberry with unlimited texting through Telus, but still am unsure and new to all this twitter stuff.

Simple question, do i still get charged extra for all tweets that they send out. All I can find is that it says standard text msging applies.....not sure if that means I get charged say, 50 cents for each one i receive, or does my unlimited plan from telus cover any charges that may be incurred? (charges from either telus or some other agent)

Hope that the question was clear, and I did not sound too outdated by asking it as I just bought my first ever cell phone and am onld enough to have seen Calgary's first ever Flames game if that gives you an indication of my age.....and my tech-illiteracy.

It sounds like you've set up twitter to SSM your phone anything from Bob McKenzie and Lebrun. From that standpoint if your plan is free incoming text messages you have to pay for any of the extra tweets.

If you want to save some of the texting costs, you might want to look into one of the many Blackberry apps for Twitter. They are relatively cheap (some are free) and utilize one of those apps. It'll make things easier as your account grows and you start following more people.

Is there anyone on the site using a Blackberry client that they would recommend? I'm only familar with the iPhone variety.

Thanks c.t.ner, thats what I was afraid of. I will have to set up something else then. If any one can recommend a good one that they use for a BBbold, it would be appreciated.

Tweets sent by text don't cost anything if you have an unlimited plan. I get certain ones sent to my dumbphone and they're free. But like said above, if you have a smartphone you should check out a Twitter client. I believe Twitter has their own for BB.

I have never been able to get notifications to work with Twitter. I've spent wayyy too long trying to fix it, but it just never got working.

The official Twitter for BlackBerry app isn't too bad.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices...al/twitter.jsp

You can get it to buzz your phone any time someone on your following list posts a tweet. It has great support for searching hashtags and for clicking links to other users. It also previews images users post to their twitter. Your bold is perfect for it.

If you need help downloading it, I believe if you choose "Download through BlackBerry Browser", you can type in the email address your blackberry is tied to and it will send a convenient link to download it.

Uber Twitter wrecks the official RIM Twitter app as it has way more functionality and last I tried less bugs.

Both are free.
