Default Balcony plunge closes 6th Ave between 8th and 9th street

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/sto...sixth-ave.html

Seems as though there might be some trouble getting home for downtown workers. Story continues to develop.

My wife and I used to live right near there ... wonder if it was the condos on the north side of 6th or the big apartment complex.

6th Ave is open, lots of police vehicles at the side of the road though.

Apparently it could be a 'hostage taking and stabbing'

Ah, his air conditioning probably wasn't working and just couldn't take it anymore.

I'm glad I'm not in Calgary if this is what happens to people who oppose Locke.

According to CFCN, someone got all stabby on the 9th floor, and one guy either jumped or fell over the balcony.

He jumped. (reported by both CPS on scene as well as witnesses)

Himself and the person he stabbed were rushed to Foothills in critical life threatening condition. A third person who was also stabbed, (in the fore arm), has non-life threatening injuries.

Listening to the news he hit a balcony on the 3rd floor. So depending on what he landed on it could be survivable. Like if he landed on a huge flower planter instead of a concrete patio.
