Salvation comes in 2009
Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind
FINALLY, they make John Connor the bad a$$ we have heard about since 1984.
John Connor is the be played by Christian Bale. I am really happy this guy is getting the recognition he deserves. He is one of my favorite actors and I am now already excited for next years summer action movies.

oh god, wasnt the 3rd one bad enough. This is another series ruined by pushing out more than there should be, 2 was enough.

Ditto. T2 is where this series stops. That movie represents the pinnacle of where they can go with the storyline. Everything that comes after is essentially just fluff. It will take one heck of a story, cast and director to change my mind about this one.
What is with the push to destroy good movie series with unnecessary sequels? Indy 4 being the pre-eminent example.

I enjoyed Indy 4, the ending was a little meh but I thought it was pretty good. I am looking forward to this movie. It will be completely different from the other 3 because it is set after the day.

The only reason I will be more then willing to give this movie a shot is Christian Bale.

I'm with the crowd that might give this flick a chance just because of Christian Bale; it doesn't bode well that the writing team was responsible for Catwoman and the director is best known for Charlie's Angels (and the fact that he calls himself McG).
I am much more curious to see what comes of the next movie by the Terminator series creator (James Cameron), also due out next year..

Speaking of second-rate actors, I don't know about the cast for this one... pretty shallow beyond Bale, with a lot of people who have worked mostly in TV, and a couple who have had one great performance and a bunch of mediocre ones (Brolin in No Country, Howard in The Village).
As far as the story goes, I've never thought that the Terminator franchise was particularly original, and so I've never had high expectations for it's storytelling. So this is probably why I wasn't as disappointed in T3 as most people. But if they're going with Bale, they might as well pay some attention to character development this time around; given how well all of the recent blockbusters have handled character development (Iron Man, Batman Begins, even Spiderman before the 3rd in that franchise), it's something that this one will be measured against.

Brolin was pretty good American Gangster.
Helena Bonnam/Carter is also listed, she is a good actress imo.

Exactly, who knows maybe in year were talking about how Bale sold out for money at the expense of his reputation. But I'm hoping not.

I think this movie kinda makes sense. Agree with we could have done without the 3rd one but there had to be a movie set in the future showing man kinds eventual victory over the machines. I belive this has been in the plans since the first movie came out, was it not? Thought I read an interview from Cameron saying something to that effect.

Get ready, because it is the first of three sequels that the producers bought rights too. Unless something drastic happens, you're going to be seeing alot of Terminator flicks in the next little while.

Wow, then I'm bracing myself for the series to go the route of Resident Evil, where each movie sucked, and yet, another sequel seems to be released. Everytime I see a preview for another Resident Evil movie, I'm thinking "How the heck did they manage to sucker the studios into another one? Mila Jokovich must have pretty good convincing powers. "

I'm really looking forward to it, I actually enjoyed some parts of T3 even though it was a bit cartoonish, the ending to me was well done with Conners stuck in an old bomb shelter being asked to take a leadership role. They could have used a stronger actor as I didn't think that he showed enough strength in the role.
I'd like to see the grim future that was promised in the first movie with the human race being beaten down, marched into camp for extermination and the use of slaves to dispose of their own species.
I have to state that I've really enjoyed the T.V. series as well, but I assume that its an alternate universe version of the Terminator time line. but I like the appearance of the rubber suited terminators near the end.

Speaking of which, when does it resume? Last one I saw was the female terminator (Cameron or something) get blown up in her truck. That was the last episode, right?

Yup, it got renewed for another year starting in September, by the ads and trailers it looks like our hot little terminator is no longer protecting John.

Frankly, I love the series, and I'm really hoping they do the passing of the torch from Arnie to Christian Bale to carry the new films. Bale seems like that isolated, troubled soul who can break out of his shell (a la Bruce Wayne), and his casting as John Connor was a great fit (although I heard it took some convincing to get him to do it).
I love the apocalyptic vision of the future that Cameron created, because at the time, a nuclear war was not out of the equation when the first Terminator film was made. The robots thing is a bit of a stretch, but any film about nuclear war made before the collapse of the Soviet Union gave me the chills.

Great thanks, now I'm gonna have to rewatch "The day after" most terrifying film ever made.

Well, at least there are some people who are excited for this as well.
I probably should have timed this better, posting about a movie that comes out next summer right before one of the most anticipated sequels of all time probably doesn't help.

Christian Bale is overrated. I was a big fan of him back in the 90s and early 2000s (Even better are his earlier movies like Empire of the Sun and Newsies) before he was a by-word but now him being in anything is taken as a mark of quality by people when he certainly has had his share of bad movies (Reign of Fire, Rescue Dawn).
That said, American Psycho is still my favorite movie of all time...the problem is that whenever I see a Christian Bale movie now, instead of the character he's supposed to be, I see Christian Bale. He really needs to do more movies with his real accent. He has the same American guy persona in every movie he does (except for Dieter in Rescue Dawn, that was absolutely terrible, it was like he was unsure of what kind of a persona or background his character was supposed to have).
Yes he's an incredibly dedicated method actor (even went from the skin and bones machinist to bulky Batman) but a performance from him in a film is not a guarantee of quality. I do find it interesting that between every big iconic role or action role...he goes and does like 5 indies in between though. But this guy has been Bruce Wayne, now he's John Connor. One day James Bond?
