Default Sod / dirt removal question

So I'm landscaping my back yard and in the next couple days I'm going to be taking out a lot of sod and dirt. I've got a trailer I can throw it in, but where can I take it? Obviously the dump is one option but since it's bio-degradable throwing it in the landfill seems dumb (and possibly expensive).

Any ideas CP?

First, rent a sod cutter if you haven't already. Save you a tonne of time. I think the dump is your best bet. Every time we've taken a dump trailer full of dirt to the dump, it cost $5/load. You just back up, kick the hydraulics on and sit back.

I know of no places that will let you dump sod. Although it is bio friendly, dead sod gets rotten and stinky. Not many people want that around, not to mention the mess.

If you bring clean fill to the dump, it's pretty cheap. keep the branches, rocks, and other junk out of it, and you'll be ok at the dump. The dump needs clean fill to build and top off the cells.

I'd give the landfill a call if you have any questions about what exactly qualifies as clean fill.

I took 3 truck loads of old grass and dirt to the dump and it was free as it was clean fill

It'll end up being about 4 yards+. As for quality, I don't know, we haven't started digging yet.
