Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Just saw this, available June 2008.

I think it will probably be good, they have quite a few songs. Might get a bit boring playing only Aerosmith though.

I found this press release.
Quote:
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith brings these quintessential rock legends to the interactive realm to create the ultimate gaming experience. As fans progress through their careers in the game, they can rock out to scores of Aerosmith's greatest hits, as well as songs from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way. Venues from historical moments during the band's illustrious career offer the experience of "sweet emotion" and further capture the essence of the band's rise to fame.
|
sounds like it'll be more than just aerosmith songs, although i'm sure it'll be about 90%.

I don't want to buy it, but I'm hopelessly addicted to these games. I'll probably give it a whirl.

I'm pretty sure I'll get sick of Steven Tyler's voice before too long, but of course I'll have to pick this up. "Love in an Elevator" should be fun to play.

while i'm pretty much into rock band right now...i can see the value of this package. and i hope that they do more of it.
my problem is that it took 10 months to get this out...which is ridiculously long for 20 or 30 songs if the other platform is churning out 3 songs a week for 4 instruments.

I'm not a big fan of Aerosmith so I'll probably pass on this one. What I really want is to buy Guitar Hero III for the WII. I can't find it anywhere. I hear that they have to replace all the broken ones they sold (sound problems) before there will be any new ones in the stores. Guess I'll be waiting a while...

I wonder if the wii version will come bundled with a guitar. We could use a second guitar since the standalone guitar isn't due for a little while yet. Might as well grab the cash while they can.

If they do a bundle, I hope they have a standalone version as well. I already have my 2 guitars!

wasn't the problem with the game itself IIRC? it was supposed to be dolby digital stereo and it was actually mono?

I have posted this in another thread but I will add it here as well. Best Buy opens at 10am and every Friday morning for the last month they have had at least 10 GH3 in stock for the Wii. Over the course of this month I have only ever walked away emtpy handed once, and that was due to them getting a shipment of Wii's in at the same time so there was about 100 people in line.
They only let you buy one per person, but we have bought 2 at Deerfoot meadows and driven to Northlands Bestbuy and bought 1 or 2 additional ones on more than one occasion. Through this method we have got GH3 for all our friends, friends of my parents and friends of friends. I was not going to make the trip this week since I don't know anyone else who wants one, but if there is enough that want them I will consider going.

Really? Don't get me excited. Just on Sunday I was at the Best Buy in Sunridge and they said they haven't had any since Boxing Day. Is Friday the day they get their shipments? What happens if you show up later then 10am? I work so I wouldn't be able to get to a best buy until after 5.

The shipment arrives Thursday night and is stocked overnight for store opening at 10am Friday morning. Someone I was in line with mentioned that if you call Thursday you can sometimes find out what was shipped in. Also, if something was listed in the flier that is released on Thursday, then they expect to have them shipped in on that same Thursday. Zero chance of you getting one at 5pm on Friday though. I have never seen them last past 11 am at the Deerfoot Meadows or Northland Stores. Even 11 am is pretty generous. If I had to guess I would say that Deerfoot meadows sells out faster than Northlands though.
edit: They apparently also get shipments on Tuesday night, I don't have any first hand info on that, but the lady my wife was talking to last week in line said she got her Wii on a Wednesday morning.

Picked up GH Aerosmith on the weekend. Pretty much same as GH3, however, the levels transition easier (for example, easy hards are like hard mediums from GH3). Definitely a good pickup if you are an Aerosmith fan (man, would I love to see GH AC/DC)
For those gamers like myself who liked the game, but had a hard time with the orange fret, I think this will be a good 'trainer'. I hope that after playing GHA on hard for a while, I will be able to go back to hard on GH3.

We picked this up as well yesterday, and I will echo that you will really have to love Aerosmith to enjoy this package. There are a lot of obscure, mediocre songs in the game.
Also, the digital Steven Tyler looks awful. You'd think that he'd say to the game developers, "Hey, could you make me look better than I actually do, not worse?"

My buddy picked it up on the weekend.. We blew through the entire game on expert in a couple hours. To be honest I was fairly disappointed that they just repackaged GH3 with 30 more songs and charged another $100.

You do get another guitar controller for $100, right?
But yeah, the stand alone game should be no more than $30.

Since I'm a sucker for more GH material will probably buy this, even though I can't stand aerosmith, other than a couple of their older songs.
Wasn't there a Boston pack out for the 360 or something that you could download? I wouldn't mind a Boston expansion, although other than their first album not sure they had many good songs after that. Maybe a '70's expansion along the lines of the '80's one they did might be cool. (sorry, just rambling)

Yeah, the Boston pack was 6 songs.
This is going back tomorrow. It was fun for a few days. I got 35 of 49 achievements in that time - a few more are in reach (I'd be done all difficulties if it wasn't for the atrocious battle mode), but the rest would require more time to complete than I've got.
