Is it for you?
Why only until the end of the day?
My advice would be to just make it like a cover letter. Short and sweet. Thanks for my time here, I appreciate all that this company has helped me achieve blah blah blah.
Sincerely,
You.

My $0.02 worth:
* Keep it short and simple
* Thank the company for the opportunity (even if it was the worst place ever)
* Don't vent about any problems
If you get a chance (and are comfortable), have a conversation about your decision with your supervisor and then give him the letter as the "formal" notice

Agreed. Make the letter insanely dry and formal taking into account the above criteria, and perhaps save any overtures for an in-person meeting.

Write "Good-Bye" in as many languages as you can think of. And nothing else.
For instance:
- Good-Bye
- Adios
- Arrivaderci
- Au'revoir
- Ciao
- etc...

I've used mine twice... was going to copy and paste it but for some reason I removed it from my usb key.
Keep it simple and short. Don't lay any blame or give reasons for your resignation, leave that stuff for an exit interview if they perform one. Mine was barely 1 paragraph consisting of 3 sentences at most.

Dear will-sapping morons:
It is with great pleasure that I cease my indentureship to this overbearing conglomerate. I am grateful for the resiliency this mindless bureaucracy instilled in my person, and as such invite you to a celebration on Friday, July 18, when I become able to be a person with a balanced life and reasonable pay.
Regards,
you.

Many moons ago when I worked at Walmart, one of my fellow co-workers wrote something very similar to this in his resignation letter. He wrote it on a McDonalds napkin. Perhaps, that's something the OP may want to consider doing, as well.

Well, I thought the McDonalds napkin was a nice touch, given that it was from the McDonalds that was in the Walmart we were working in.
And yeah, Antithesis, I honestly didn't think he would do it. I was helping him write it while working my shift and then he walked over to our manager and gave it to him. Said nothing, just stood there for a second while the guy read it and then walked out.

But seriously... I had an employee give me a resignation letter that included doubts about the integrity of the company. We were going to offer her more money to stay, but decided after putting this letter forward, she was probablly not the best fit for us anyways....
