Get out and jog, fatties!
http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/Alberta/...8/5914971.html
Report claims that nearly half of all adults in Calgary Health Region are overweight and 1 in 6 are obese!
That's nuts! I better go to the gym after work today.

I enjoy walking along the river downtown at lunchtime and seeing the female joggers in their yoga pants/shorts. Does that count?

Google obese and be entertained by the pictures that pop up at the top of the search results. I seriously would have a harder time finding funnier pictures.
my BMI is 25, which puts me at the very bottem of overweight, but realisitically i could add 10-15 lbs and still not be overweight. I'm told I'm still rather thin.

BMI is not a reliable indicator of "fatness," however, as it only takes into account weight and height. Muscle is heavier than fat, and would make most players in the NFL obese and most hockey players overweight, according to BMI.
Body fat percentage is a much better standard.

I'm 6 foot, 200lbs, triathlete, probably 5 - 8% body fat and have a BMI of 27.1 or overweight.
BMI Categories: - Underweight = <18.5
- Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
- Overweight = 25-29.9
- Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

I have a BMI of 21.1, at 6'1 and 160 lbs. I would consider that underweight.
But according to this, I am normal.

Very true. I don't know how BMI got to be such a popular statistic: it's fundamentally flawed and misleading.
You'll find a majority of athletes competing in contact sports are "overweight." I remember looking this up a couple of years ago and finding that Theo Fleury was obese when he played for the Flames, Mario Lemieux was either obese or very overweight when he played for the Penguins, and Michael Jordan was overweight when he played for the Bulls. Heaven forbit we have too many of those fatasses in town.

I agree with the BMI indicator not being all that good when referring to people who carry a lot of muscle as a result athletic training, working out, etc (Ie Wookie's case). However, for those of us who aren't in that exceptions category don't just shrug BMI off when it indicates you're overweight or obese. Belittling indicators and scales are just what the obese person needs to use as an excuse to continue on their lifestyle of excess.

What are you saying? You have to be under 10% BF for your abs to show.
Nothing wrong with that either.

I know I'm not a pillar of fitness, but this BMI thing is junk (as seems to be the consensus here) why would the CRHA or a newspaper use it... to just barely squeeze into the "normal" range I would have to weigh 190lb (at 6' 1.5") I take craps heavier than that...
Being of Danish decent (I think thats where its from - Vikings and all -lol), both my brother and I have wide shoulders, think chests and legs we are tall and thick, ya the beer belly is present, like I said I'm not a pillar of physical fitness but even if I lost that I'm no where near the normal range... when I tell people how much I wiegh they straight up do not believe me... I literally have to get on a scale or they think I'm full of it, not that I get why I would lie to be heavier than I am... but we just don't look heavy as we are. The closest a Carnival guy has come to guessing my wieght is within 35 pounds... thats the closest, most are off by 75 or more and yet I watch those guys guess bang on over and over... oh well its an easy teddy bear for the girl I'm with.
*******Edit*********
see, lol... I'm in the high end of Obese with the BMI, but low end of healthy with the BFP... I like the BFP better...

5 foot 11, weigh 219lbs. I'm way out of shape.
Apparently I'm obese with a BMI of 30.9.
Guess I need to do something about it.

Yeah I got my body fat measurment done when I was about 40 pounds overweight and it still was in the normal range, albeit at the higher end. I'm curious what it is since I've dropped the extra weight.

I read about this new fad called jogging. I'm not sure but apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.
