Very sad.

This guy was probably the last great interviewer in American TV journalism. What a sad tragedy.

Sad story especially since he was preparing to go to his son's college graduation. A top notch journalist that will be missed.

Wow, very sad. He and his show are the only reason my PVR gets any work on Sunday morning now that Football is over. Never missed a show (sometimes I fastforwarded through the more lefty parts).
Best political newscaster in the US, on same plane with Mike Duffy up here.
Sad sad sad day in politics today.

Wow, sometimes I wake up and feel like I'm in a bizarro world.
Tim Russert was one of the absolute good guys in media, journalism, and politics. One of the ones you could always trust to speak with candor, moderation, and wisdom. Wisdom of our Fathers is a great book.
This is terrible. If only Washington has more Russerts.

That is a big loss for American broadcast journalism, huge. He was one of the good guys. RIP Tim.

FYI, tonight's Charlie Rose will have an hour long appreciation of Tim Russert. Should be good.

He's had to do two of those this year, the first for Buckley and now Russert. Bad year for American journalism.

Celebrated Square Root Day

Did anyone else watch the daily show tonight? At the end of every show, jon does the "moment of zen". Tonight it was a clip of when he had Tim Russet on the show right before Jon's first child was born, and it was Tim proudly telling Jon how it will be the happiest time of his life when that child is born, and beaming about how proud he is of his own child. It was really touching.
I have it recorded on my pvr, but so far I haven't been able to find it on youtube or anything. If I do, i'll post it here.
edit: I just rewatched it and realized the most touching part was what he said at the end...... actually, I'll just transcribe the whole thing, cause it was awesome.
"Let me tell you, you're life in July is gonna change big guy. When you hold that little baby, there's nothing like it. There's been twice in my life, when my baby son was born 18 years ago, and when this book was finished. it really gave me such a feeling, because my dad read it and my son read it, and now my life's complete."

Had an idea!
|
Drudge had an article saying that MSNBC is going to have a REALLY hard time replacing him. In fact, it said they were completely lost at who to even look at for potential candidates.
