I don't think you can tell from the pitcher that he meant to hit him, but for sure, if you keep your eye on the catcher, it seems like he's intentionally getting out of the way of the ball so it will hit the ump.

Funiest thing I saw was in a playoff game years before, when a catcher signaled for a throw to second, but the Pitcher missed the signal and threw a 95 mile an hour fast ball past the place abandoned by the catcher and right into the Umps junk target.
