Yeah I agree with the "Vacation thoery" presented later in the article. Also if Albertan men are reserved then Albertan women are princesses. I think they'll soon find that there is plenty of competition in the USA that are willing to do more things when it comes down to it, if you get my drift! At least in my own personal experience at least.

Well perhaps you should stop picking princesses... I know at least one Calgary female that is willing to do more things... Seems to me that maybe you just don't like the kind of girls that are willing, if you catch my drift.

She is right though

A lot of guys don’t know how to start a conversation with women they are interested in, let alone spark any sort of attraction

But that’s not just exclusive to Canada she will have trouble in that States as well

Yikes these girls are looking way too far into this being confident, knowing who you are, and having a high self worth has nothing to do with what country you are from

When I was single, I found that many Alberta girls were snooty and I was usually not too interested in them. I ended up dating, then marrying a Mantioba girl that was living in Saskatchewan.

I am sure that there are many wonderful girls in Alberta, I just personally found that they were easier to find elsewhere.

There were pictures of these women in the print edition. They may have to cross a few borders to find a man.

It's not us, it's you.

I've noticed a few women here (Calgary, not CP) that seem to almost pride themselves on their aloofness and unapproachability.

Luckily for me, I have infallible charm and an insatiable level of natural magnetism. I just plow right through aloofness.

If you're trying, and you can't find a man/woman after many years, I'm sorry to say that the common factor in the equation is you. Pretty simple of you ask me.

Awesome comment. That's exactly what I thought when reading the article. Mediocre to less than average girls plus reserved guys equals no dates for them. Truly hot chicks never have trouble with getting guys to talk to them. That's also especially brutal that they can't get any dates because Alberta is one of the few provinces with way more men then women. If anything it should be the other way around.

Awwww.... look at all the boys being defensive here.

Here's my own story so you can tell me to STFU as well.

I've been single for over 3 years now. Not that I haven't gone on dates, not that I haven't ever been asked out, but I do have to say I have done most of the asking, at least 80%. I've been approached in bars a total of maybe 3 times in those three years. And 2/3 times were guys looking for a booty call. I've given out plenty of signals to men who were looking in my direction as well, so it's not like I haven't tried to have a guy come strike up a conversation with me. So why don't they?

So here's the question for those who know me... is it that I project a snootiness? Or am I ugly? Or am I giving the wrong signals? Or are men just waiting for ME to approach them? And why can't they take the initiative?

I feel the bar culture is a bad way to meet people if you want a lasting fulfilling relationship. Go to the Calgary sport and social club website and sign up for some teams as a single, go volunteer at the SPCA or for some charity event, or just do the activities you love at scheduled events.

I guess it is different for everyone though, I have a hipster dofus friend who wears his tight jeans and beanie and meets people at the indie bars. Though those girls are all sorts of crazy.
