Very powerful footage by any standards.

Now read this article by David Warren

But when a French media-watch organization challenged the clip, France-2 sued its director, Philippe Karsenty, winning a questionable libel conviction in 2006, with damages assessed at 2 euros. This conviction was appealed, and overthrown last week, after the higher court demanded that France-2 provide all 27 minutes of the raw film footage that surrounded the making of the clip. France-2 surrendered only 18 minutes, insisting the rest was irrelevant・-- even though the court heard sworn testimony that the missing footage contained rehearsals by Arab boys, play-acting at being shot. On the basis of the 18 minutes they could see, the court ruled that Mr Karsenty allegation the clip was staged, was the reasonable conclusion.

Please fell free to watch Pallywood.

I just hope that once exposed the media covered the truth to the extent they covered the lie. I know they didn't on this side of the Atlantic.

I don't know the particular history behind this video, I only know that is somewhat questionable.

I do know that it was proven that several of the Lebanon photos some years ago showing victims were completely staged.

I'm not saying that attrocities don't happen...but be very careful of believing every picture of video you see on the internet. And even if the attrocities did happen, what are melodramatic music/picture slideshow videos like this supposed to make you feel? More generalized hate toward the other side? You should feel remorse for the victim and desire for justice for the particular individual perpetrator but all propaganda videos like this is engender more generalized blanket hate and fear between groups, cultures, relgions, and ethnicities.

I think the problem is some people don't want to see the truth. They want an excuse to hate. How do videos like Loose Change exist? Anybody who takes the time to look into any of the facts in videos like these will know they are lies. Some people would rather just have their own politics confirmed and then hate on the now vilified opposite side.

At the same time, you have to be careful of biased journalists.

All the story says is that Karsenty's allegation was reasonable and therefore he was not guilty of libel for publicly stating that.

The story makes no claim that the alleged footage of Palestinian children pretending to be shot is related to the events in the other 18 minutes of the video. Chidren in war zones "play" war all the time and it doesn't mean that other footage shot on the same tape is fake. It could be, but this story does nothing to prove that... it only proves that Karsenty has reason to think that and therefore was not libelous.

There have actually been several investigations into the footage. Most show that it was not physically possible for the child, if he was shot at all, to have been shot by Israeli soldiers.

Misunderstandings with this kind of footage happen all the time; the bigger issue was how France 2 went out of their way to present the video the way they did and how the public ate it up in the way they did.

Tragic for everyone involved.
