Default Issue with my Lawn

I need someone whose a greenthumb, I put down sod in my massive backyard in the fall, so now coming around spring the grass has done very well but there is a section that has gone to a brown with pieces of good green grass throughout it. it's very dry almost straw-like. I've been baffled as to why this one area is messed up and now I'm thinking it's where my sump pump hose used to go out too and my area has lots of water so it pumps regularly, thinking maybe there was too much iron or deposits in the sump water that it poisoned my grass? Anyway could it recover? it has some good areas but it's kind of like someone with thinning hair, there's hair but it looks thin and patchy

Don't know if I should get fertilizer, grass seed, or rip it up and start over and put my sump pump hose elsewhere or even bury it.
