Default Integrity test - level of moral maturity

Roger Steare, a business ethics consultant, poses some moral dilemmas. The basic test below (which is not designed for use in a professional context), will give you an integrity score which describes your level of moral maturity.

A social conscience (You scored 40 out of a possible 50)

Your integrity: Typical
Your score is typical of most people in business – you seem to have a Social Conscience. You will sometimes feel strongly about issues of principle. Most of the time, you will make decisions based on accepted “best practice” and/or legal considerations. You will be happiest working for an employer which proclaims the highest ethical principles, but which in practice tempers them with pragmatism. Sometimes, you will feel uneasy about some of the commercial decisions which are made, but will generally go with the flow and not rock the boat.

Dion ... just curious. Do you have a job that involves sifting through the internet for sundry online tests concerning all aspects of the human condition? Or is that just your favourite time-waster at work?

Your integrity: Principled conscience
You appear to have a mature and developed sense of ethics and morality, what we would describe as a “Principled Conscience”. You are unlikely to compromise the highest ethical standards, even if it means personal sacrifice or making a stand for your principles. Your personal and professional integrity will be consistent. You will be happiest working for an organisation where most of your colleagues share these same values.

44. Same description as Dan above.

I like these tests, just glad someone else does the legwork in finding them.

Your Integrity: Druglord
You appear to have the ethics of a sociopathic crack addict. You would sell your own sister for cat food if you could get a good price for her, and anyone making a business deal with you is asking to get ripped off. You probably would make a good CEO of any number of multi-national organizations, or possibly a holder of high political office.

I was about to ask the same question.

Whats the deal here? You're administering more tests than the average Accounting Prof.

BTW, my morality cannot be measured by any test devised by man, it would measure in as "dubious at best."

Pragmatic (You scored 28 out of a possible 50)

Your integrity: Pragmatic
It is likely that your ethical decisions are driven by “rules” and perhaps best practice, rather than universal moral principles. In a commercial sense, you are pragmatic and will act in accordance with Milton Friedman’s maxim that you have a duty to maximise profits within “the rules of the game”, e.g. the law. You may find it difficult to make the right decision when rules or precedent do not apply. You may also believe that the concept of “business ethics” is an oxymoron.

I got 46 out of 50--"Principled Conscience." That sounds about right to me...

Though I think knowing in advance that it's a test of "integrity" does influence the results--you can't really treat the questions as true hypotheticals if you know that they're going to be used to measure a trait that everybody wants to have.

EDIT: There's also something odd about how this test is scored. I changed every answer to the opposite of my first answer and still got 28--pragmatic.

There is nothing I hate more than Human Resources

I HATED taking it in school, I HATE the HR department at the company I currently work for

I’m sure they are some good HR people somewhere, but all the experience I have had thus far is dreadful
