Any ideas when the second season dvd comes out.
After watching the last 30 mins of one show, I watched 3 the next week on the movie channel, I imediatly liked it and had to go to Future Shop and buy the first season on dvd.

Just started watching the second season, and yeah, fantastic show. I am still such a huge SFU fan that I put off watching it at first because I had time believing MCH could be as good in this show as he was in SFU, and while he probably isn't, it's still a very good show. Great premise, well directed.
My only beef is with some of the supporting characters. Mazuka (like somebody mentioned) is great, but Dexter's sister, the black cop who's out to get Dex, and his former partner (the Haitian lady/ex-department chief) have all had acting moments that were less than stellar. Especially the sister character. Maybe they blew the budget signing MCH. I dunno.
But the story makes up for it. Dexter's ever-evolving conflicted lifestyle, his private life as a killer, the Ice Truck killer (S1) and Bay Harbor butcher (S2) season-long storylines are awesome. Recommended viewing if you don't mind a little gore.

Have only seen the first season, but it's great. Almost worth paying for Showtime just to see the show. We'll probably wait til the DVD's come out though.

That's how I watched both seasons. The first season was an impulse buy last fall. The second season was a gift from my friend's computer genius bro.
Since I'm way to spontaneous and scatterbrained to dedicate myself to any show, it is mandatory that I watch a show like Dexter on DVD. Besides, the show hooks you so badly, waiting a week to find out what happens next would be torture. Both seasons were watched marathon style.

Definitely dont watch the trimmed down version on network tv (CBS and CTV I think). It would be awful.
If I remember right, the Showcase and DVD versions were somewhere around 55 minutes in length. Taking that down to the network length of 42 minutues would kill the content entirely. Not to mention, you cant tell this story AND abide by the network content regulations.

That's funny because I can't get into six feet under because I watched Dexter first and now I see MCH as a tormented serial killer and not his character on sfu. I will continue to watch and I'm sure by the fourth or fifth episode I'll have forgotten all about DEX.
I had a discussion with my friend about Dex's sister (Jennifer Carpenter). He thought she was the worlds worst actress and I can't disagree more. I think she is an amazing, amazing actress. Its the character the he doesn't like. The actress does a remarkable job with the role and the lines she is given. So good that he believes the lines and has a personal dislike on for her character, not the actor, that is a true sign of great acting. That being said I would like to see her in a different role and contrast her character assignments and portrayals.
