50 cent performing at...Burns Stadium!?
Saturday July 12th
Interesting choice of venue, but I think it will make for an awesome concert.

Have any other acts ever played Burns Stadium?

It's weird that they even let this man cross the border...

I wouldn't say that. The last time he was in Calgary he played the Dome (at the height of hi success) and he attracted about 7 000 people. Now I'm not sure how they are going to arrange the seating, but I know Burns stadium can hold about 8 000 people in the stands, I'm not sure if they are going to have people on the field or not. So it's not really the size of the venue that's weird as much as the fact that I just can't picture a 50 cent concert in that stadium.

I thought Burns stopped their sponsorship of the stadium after the Cannons left and it was back to being called Foothills.

I don't think I've ever even heard of there being a concert at Foothills Stadium before. Haha.
Why wouldn't they just have it at the Corral?

it's during stampede...God forbid they kick the superdogs out. There would be a public outcry.

Well, for some reason I remember there being 8000+ listed as the attendance for the Cannons final game in Calgary, perhaps they had temporary bleachers erected for that game?

Speaking of the Cannons final game, does anyone have any video or hilights or anything of that game?

I was at that final Cannons game and there was indeed a little over 8000 fans which was or was very close to a sell out. Great game too! Calgary won in the ninth inning after being down by a few! Massive rally!

That will be one time that if you see people with baseball bats at Foothill Stadium, it's a bad thing!

The original plan was to have it at the Corral, however that was a different date. Since it was moved to Stampede week, booking was tough for the Corral. In addition, having the extra 1000 or so seats at Foothills was a bonus, due to the costs associated with show.
Foothills seating capacity is slightly higher, so that would be added ticket revenue.
