Default Dishwasher Smells

I have noticed lately my dishwasher and the dishes reek like pond water after washing the dishes.

Any tips to fix this?

Stop routing your water from your neighbors pond? Hmmm...does your tap water smell the same? Maybe time to change the filter?

most dishwashers have a solid food trap, look for yours and clean it out.

Buy a new one or sell your house.

Is a smelly dishwasher considered a warranty issue?

After you clean out the food trap run a little CLR in there, should freshen things up.

Thumbs up

Run a cycle with nothing in it (or two). Use detergent.

Yep, vinegar should do the trick.

They also see a "dishwasher cleaner." I have used it a few times as it works really well to get rid of hard water deposits. As with the other methods above (which proably work just as well but cheaper) you run it in a cycle with no dishes.

I read this thread, Both I hate Hulse and redforever mention the drain pipe. I did that and it solved the problem.

Sorry to bump, I just had to acknowledge this post. I regaled the premise of this thread, the helpful responses and then this particular comment to a few people over the last few days and it has caused copious amounts of laughter. Very well done. Nominated for skill, based on pure hilarity and the deadpan fashion it was delivered in.
